Red worms?

Hypothetically, if I got a hold of some red worms (basically earth worms), do you think leos would go for them? What about bearded dragons (if anyone knows)?

I'm meaning to get some to keep in my vivs, but I can only seem to find them in bulk. So if I can offer the rest as feeders to our reptiles then even better. They can't hurt, I imagine?

Thanks.

Well when I bought red wigglers for my fire skink (the guy said he'd ONLY eat those... tell that to all the superworms, mealworms, crickets, etc. he's devoured lol) and tried giving some smaller ones to my geckos... They didn't care for them. My female couldn't find a way to swallow it, they're stretchy, and my males licked it a few times before walking off.

Well that helps, thanks. I guess before I buy anything in bulk I'll try to find a bait shop and just get a dozen or so and test the waters. I can imagine that if they like them worms would be a good extra for beardies, that get moisture from food sources.

Ive always wondered myself. I need to get some for my viv as well, and I bet my water dragon would eat them. Well, I am interested in the answer to this as well...

I've heard that cresties will eat them if they're in their viv. But if I can only get a minimum of 500 online, I'm not going to put that many in mine's viv lol That would just be overkill. So if I think our beardies and leos will eat them then that's fine. Unless I start a compost pile... on our apartment balcony haha.

I've seen them in one of the chain stores (Co not Smart). I'd get them from there instead of the bait shop. It might not be any different but I would think the ones sold as reptile food would be a bit safer than the ones sold for fish bait. Not sure how many are in a tub since I haven't bothered with them since. Haha, I bet beardies would eat them. I don't have one but they seem to eat almost everything XD

Oh that's good to know. I'll check with them then. I don't need very many, I just need a few to put in my viv and then if I have left overs see if anyone will eat them. And that is definately very true of beardies lmao They are like the tiger shark of pet reptiles!

I dont think that leos will eat redworms. Redworms produce a smell and bad taste when cut or restrained. Most reptiles and amphibians dont like them. Chopped nightcrawlers and regular earthworms would be better.

They won't eat them. I actually got 400 in today to try them (just now say this thread) and put worms in with 60 different leos, not one was eaten.

Hmm alright lol I guess maybe there isn't much hope. I think I'll try getting a dozen or so and see if the dragons will eat earthworms (they will eat almost anything). if not I'll stick to putting them in my vivs and leave it at that.
