I would start with Repashy Calcium Plus, the all in one supplement. Working with 50+ gecko species, beardies and blue tongues I have not found the need for anything additional. I have a lot of customers using Calcium Plus and no one has asked for anything additional. The product works well!

I was told by Dr. Daniel Wentz (Rep-Cal) that if you are going to switch products, you need to do it gradually. Mix the new supplement with the old supplement for awhile, anad then reduce the amount of the old stuff until the geckos are on 100% new.

Many of us breeders have had serious issues with stopping our supplements and starting a new one. According to Dr. Wentz and my vet, it could take a little time for the gecko's to be able to metabolize a sudden change properly.

Great advice.... Digestive systems get used to certain things.. Anyone who has switched a dog from one food to the other knows what it can do... I think often enough, people think something is no good because a change can trigger a short term metabolic reaction....

Hi Allen, nice to have you on the forum :)

I started using your calcium plus last month.
It's all I use, and I removed all the calcium dishes from their tanks.

Question; since they only get this suppliment on their food, what should I do in times when they are not eating?
In that case, should I go ahead and put a small dish of it in there untill their normal feeding habits continue?

Well... if they are not eating, then they don't need supplementation.... I don't know what you mean by "whe their normal feeding habits continue" why would they stop eating?

They go through spells where they wont eat for a day or more.
Other than shedding, I have never known why, as nothing has changed
(temps, etc.) and it's not stress related (all my leos are seperatly housed).
After "fasting", they start eating normaly again.

So, what your saying is, when they are not eating, there is nothing to supplement!?

I have to say my favorite thing about Repashy calcium plus is the ingredient list. I'll happily use anything with spirulina, bee pollen, and hempseed meal. I've researched these ingredients and others on the list when researching my hermit crab's diet. I often use spirulina powder as a gut load ingredient.

The smell is an added bonus. My first leo refuses all foods dusted with pure calcium powder due to a previous owners misunderstanding of supplementation. I have no problems getting her to take feeders dusted wit the calcium plus.

I'm getting ready to transition my geckos to calcium plus and have read that it's best to transition slowly rather than just stop one thing and start another. I"m currently using alternating dustings of rep cal and repcal herptivite. Any suggestions?

First, RepCal and Herptivite is meant to be used in a 50/50 ratio mixed together (see manufacturer website). It messes up the gecko's metabolism to do it otherwise.

To start integrating Calcium Plus, I would use Calcium Plus every third feeding for a while, then every second and third feeding, etc.

Let us know how it goes! It will take about three weeks on just Calcium Plus for you to see a difference. I bought a pair of tangerines not maintained on Calcium Plus - opened their drawer one day recently had almost had to put on sunglasses! ;)

That's exactly what I did, but I did not gradualy change. I saw no ill effects or change in habits. I was told the best way to do it is to mix the calcium plus with the rep cal/herptivite until you end up with 100% calcium plus.
Then, I was told you should never mix these products because they are carefully balanced formulas.
I ended up just switching and my leos were perfectly happy.

That's good to know, thanks Nats!

Thanks for the tips guys!

I'm looking at transitioning over to C+ over the next month so it's good to get this info ahead of time. I'm looking forward to having one less dish in my enclosures as I understand it's not necessary to have a dish of calcium in the enclosure at all times when using C+. I would think that the residual from feeding worms would be all that's needed.

I'm also looking forward to needing only one supplement instead of the suite of three products needed otherwise.

BTW, I'll be selling this product in Canada starting in November if anyone is interested...:main_thumbsup:
