It's still 2 1/2 weeks away, but I'm so excited! The Manchester show was the first reptile expo I ever went to, back in Oct. of 2004 and that was the last time it was on a Sunday (I don't go to shows on Sat). It's finally being held on a Sunday again and I'm vending at it, trying to sell my last 9 geckos from last season, some pottery and set-ups.

I'll be wearing my GF T-shirt and Neill may be there too helping out. If you live in NE (or if you want to take a nice plane trip) come by and say hello.

I live in Rhode Island and really want to go to the Manchester Show. What's the average you can get a leo for at the show? I know that there are different setups and such.

I went to the one in the fall, and saw a pretty big spread on prices. Didn't see a massive amount of variety, but you can definitely get plenty for $35-$45. PM me and I can give you a little vendor specific advice that might help.

Hey Aliza, I was really looking forward to meeting you in person, but I had to choose between the Manchester show and the White Plains show, and I'm picking up a leachie from Steve Cemelli @ White Plains, so the Manchester got canned. Maybe they'll keep is on Sunday and you keep vending there, and I'll stop by in the fall.

Corey --my geckos sell $30-40.

Kevin --sorry I'll miss you. Consider coming to the Maine Herp society show in Portland on 8/29.

I might actually be able to come now. It will mean that I have to bring all three of my kids, two of which don't like reptiles, but I might just do it.

If I do, I'll def. stop by and chat for a minute, Aliza. And Nevin, if you're at a table, I'll swing by and introduce myself. The Luxurious Leopards guys pointed you out to me at the last White Plains show, but you and your TMNT hat were looking busy, so I didn't bother. :)

OK, here's the lowdown on me...

I will be there before the gate opens. I will be accompanied by three tiny girls, all with red hair. I cannot be missed.

Nevin and Aliza, I'll swing by and yack with ya a bit after we make our initial round to scope out that place. Anybody else, feel free to flag me down if you see me.

I was at the back next to Black Jungle.

I had a great time at the show --I sold 9 of the 10 geckos I brought and one of my tank set-ups (thankfully the 20 gallon one which I didn't want to haul back to my house).

It was nice seeing any of you that I saw today, and special thanks to Neill who came and sat at my table and helped me all day.

Thanks so much Aliza for the experience. As always the show is amazing! TONS of people, and reptiles! Sold a few small containers of Dubia Roaches. Had my eyes on a male panther chameleon but every one sold before the end of show! Cant wait for the day i have 10-20 geckos to bring to a show.

PS anyone see the PURE WHITE Tokay gecko (display) and the giant male raptor leo that sold... they where AMAZING!

Hi all,

The show this year was Amazing! The white tokay was sooo pretty! He looked rather bulky and healthy, or maybe I'm used to leos and he was just fat?

The bearded dragons Nevin was selling were GORGEOUS! I'm just not that interested in owning one.

Did anyone else see the viper boa being sold at the big table in the back?:D I was soooo tempted to buy it, but my mother would have flipped her lid when I brought it home for summer :( unfortunately I have to respect her wishes. Only $65, captive born, feeding on frozen thawed fuzzies, and tame enough to handle!

In general, I was very impressed with the level of knowledge of most of the people attending the show. Two big exceptions stand out, though:

--someone came by to look at my pottery and was asking questions about my stuff which made me think they were interested in a leopard gecko. It turns out they had bought a black throated skink from a vendor representing a large petstore chain and had no idea how to take care of it except that it "ate crickets". It was a baby, and they had no idea how big it would get (neither do I). I told them to go home and google "black throated skink care", since the vendors had not provided a caresheet. Well, when I got home I googled and found next to nothing. How long is this animal going to last?

--someone came by with really basic questions about leo housing and care. I gave them my caresheet and then saw that they had bought 3 really tiny leos. Once again, no care sheet. How long are these guys going to last?
