Not too sure if this question has been answered yet but how do you guys figure out the id codes for your geckos? I've looked around but have not really found any ones that make sense to me. I've tried making my own but its confusing :main_huh:

I take it your talking about numbering new eggs/hatchlings by ID codes. I can give you an example of what I use.

My ID's are typically like this, D1-0101-11-MSS. The first set "D1" would be the male and female from a specific pairing. Females are the letter and males are the numbers. The first "01" means the number of egg/hatchling overall from all parings from the breeding season. The second "01" is the number of eggs from a specific pairing. The "11" is the year. The last bit just gives me some info on the morph after it hatches.

So I can look and the D1 will tell me what pairing the eggs/hatchlings are from. "0101" tells me it's the first eggs of the season and also the first from this specific paring. The "11" tells me that they are from the 2011 breeding season. The MSS tells me it's a Mack Super Snow.

I hope that isn't too confusing.

My system: each baby gets a "name" that's the combination of parents' names and a consecutive number. I don't use the code to tell me DOB or morph; that's stored in several places both handwritten and on the computer and crossreferenced with the code. So, for instance, this morning I hatched "Safnec3", the 3rd offspring of Saffron and Nectar (sire's name always first).

I use initials of each parent -followed by the clutch number and "A" or "B" to distinguish which egg it was - followed by the date hatched - then once the hatchling has grown a bit and I'm sure of the morph that follows. So AP3A-051011-STE is from "Angel" X "Pepe" 3rd clutch egg A that hatched on May 10th 2011 and turned out to be a snow tremper eclipse.
