I know this particular section is usually used for leo heath...

...but the hypochondria involved with my microbiology class got me thinking; what particular diseases do leos have that can be caught by humans?

I know crypto is one, but can reptile parasites thrive in the human gut or are they specific to reptiles only?

With that said, have any of you ever gotten a reptile - human illness?

Obviously, this is why sanitary precautions are so vital in preventing infection, but sometimes it can be hard, especially with the really super friendly ones that like to crawl all over us and sit on our shoulders and hang out:main_rolleyes:

Coccidia, Roundworms, Hookworms, Tapeworms, and Pinworms (depending on what species) are all zoonotic.

Roundworms can cause blindness very quickly in children.

Oh and I had Giardia once...I don't think reptiles can get it though. I won't go into specifics, but basically I lived in the bathroom for two weeks.

there are different strains of crypto that reptiles can carry, and if I am not mistaken, humans can catch at least one strain.
