hey guys, i am very new to reptiles and these are my first actually. I got them from a guy who didnt really give them any care and had them cramped in a 10 gal ter. I bought a 40 gal breeder and some vita sand....gave them 4 hides and an under cage heater, one hot side cage one cold.....here are my questions....

1. I have a moist hide with damp moss in it, is this needed right now? they are not shedding and it isnt mating season right? (or am i wrong)

2. they look like they regurgitated their cricket / mealworm buffet. I still see black/white poo but there is a clump of undigested worm/crickets in the cage too.....any thoughts?

3. what kind of geckos are these two beauties?

Oh, those poor things! Their tails are so tiny! That breaks my heart. And they're absolutely beautiful, too.

I don't know if I'm really qualified to offer advice but I would say keep the humid hide in the tank all the time. I think sometimes they just like to hang out in there to moisturize, I suppose. Sometimes I see mine hanging out in his humid hide for no apparent reason.

Personally, I would feed them some fatty worms but try not to get them hooked on them or they'll get spoiled and won't eat anything else. Big fat worms like waxworms. Honestly, I suggest them a lot but they are a skinny gecko's best friend. Keep feeding them crickets too, though!

Some quick advice.

1. Separate all of the geckos, for sure take the male out. Even if they were all together before, you should separate them to see who is sick (throwing up), and who is not. QUARANTINE is huge right now for their sake.

2. Get them eating with calcium and vitamin dusted insects.

3. The sand.....My opinion is for you to get rid of that since you are new to reptiles. It could cause problems. You don't need anymore problems. Use paper towels or tile.

4. Get a fecal test done on them, eliminate all possible reasons they are throwing up.

5. Keep the moist hide in at all times. They need it to shed, and they will lick it for water as well.

6. make sure the surface temperature is around 90-92 degrees give or take. It helps with digestion. Get a probe thermometer and tape it on your substrate.

Do all of that and you will give them a good shot at getting better quicker. You seem like you want to learn, so try and do the right things for the geckos. Theres alot of advice on this forum and alot of knowledgeable people. Good luck with them and let us know how everything turns out.

He's pretty handsome too. :) it looks like he was feeling left out of the picture.

But yeah, probably a good idea to separate them for a while. A good suggestion.

The one on the left looks like a small version off oddjob so I'm gunna guess this but I could be wrong. A super hypo tangerine? (SHT) he looks like he can hardly stand though. If you saw mine you would see it looks like he has huge biceps lol. Your geckos do look smaller than him though

Thanks for the replies every one....no throw up this morning when i checked on the crew, a BUNCH of poo though lol....looks better, they were also up and playing around this morning in all of their new hides and branches. Im going to wait to separate them , not because i dont accept the advice but because i dont have sufficient housing for all three, and i just spent $200 yesterday setting this one up. I am going to petco today to get some waxworms and vitaman and calcium dust....any particular brand i should get? also what should i feed the mealworms and wax worms while in the bowl waiting to be eaten?

There color will brighten up allot too once the sand is out and you get the UTH temp right :p. Did you happen to get a temp probe? Its a great way to keep a eye out on the floor temp where the UTH is. The only thing i suggest is getting the sand out. Your doing great though :)

I appreciate the advice, i really do...i know sand isnt every ones favorite method but I have seen the set ups many times and like it myself....

I am headed to petco to get a probe today, it said it takes a minimum of 6 hours to get an accurate reading once the heater has been plugged in... also i will take pics of the set up today to show every one...my main concern is what vitamins and calcium exactly do i get for their food?

Well with mine, I give them calcium without D3. My opinion is to give them d3 every so often so they dont get too much. This is what a breeder told me. Some people use it every day though so im not sure. But as long as its calcium. Rep-cal has calcium with d3 and multivitamins. There not the cheapest though. Flukers also has some too.

The one on the right is definitely an albino but we would need a clear eye photo to verify which strain. Feed your mealworms carrots, potatoes, apples, or any other nutritious fruits or veggies really they need this to be gutloaded for proper nutrition. The wax worms don't need to be gutloaded just keep them in the fridge they survive on the fat stores they have.
