Rheostat

I got a Zoo Med rheostat for Hermalina.

It says it is good for two lamps or two heat rocks.

I have an UTH of course.

Same thing right in a way right?

Also, should I start on medium?

yea im using it on 2 heat mats i have it in between medium and high

I guess I'll open it then. I don't know how to use it.

I thought there would be a sensor. I plugged it in, put it on medium. I'll monitor the temps with the lamp off for now. I turn off the lamp in the evening.

Why not just get the proper equip... A thermostat would be a much better choice...

it will work it just not the best equipment compaired to a $125 thermostat. Don't worry about getting anything else for you UTH. Its not gonna matter if it fluctuates a bit as long as it stays between 92-97 degrees on the hot side.

I really thought this is what I needed to buy.

This is what I do. I have the lamp on during the day and I turn it off at night. I have the UTH on all the time.

It's a cool room. This morning it was 86 on the floor before I turned on the lamp. It jumped after I turned on the lamp to 92. This is what I am looking for. I don't want it to get too hot for him. She likes the lamp. I moved the lamp to the cool side for a few weeks and she went into burmentation (sp?). Didn't eat for almost three weeks. I'm never moving the lamp again.

As for now, she is very healthy with this set up and eats like a pig.

I'll be keeping an eye on the probe. I'm more concerned with the summer months.

I'm keeping the box just in case.
