As most of you know we have a soft spot for rescued dogs. Right after we rescued Penny, our Boston Terrier, in October of '05 she was diagnosed with Cushing's disease. Several vets said that she need to be euthanised then since there was no cure. She had plenty of spunk in her and Dr. Van Ness at Greenway Animal Clinic agreed to treat her with Lysodren to help relieve the symptoms. She put up a good fight up until this weekend when her health deteriorated very quickly. We went to the vet yesterday morning to give her the peaceful ending she deserved. She beat the odds and was lucky to have lived as long and happy life as she did but she was ready to go ...
Penny, we love you and you will be missed.
To everyone that has, or will have a pet who is diagnosed with a degenerative illness: Don't give up on them until they decide it's time to go. Just because they wont live for ever doesn't mean that they can't have an excellent quality of life in the mean time.
