Well, looks like I'm not going to be able to go to Riley's B-day party, Jeremy. :main_no:

I was on lunch today, driving back to work, and someone pulled out in front of me. Yep...I got into ANOTHER wreck. I drove for 10 years and never had any fender-benders, no tickets, hell ... I've only be pulled over ONCE for a tail light that was out. Now I've totaled 2 cars in 3 months.

Yea. TOTALED!

The street I was on is a REALLY busy street, 3 lanes each way - with no center turn lane. So, someone in my direction wanted to turn left and had that inside lane blocked ... around 15 - 20 stopped cars. Somewhere in the middle of that a guy coming in the other direction wanted to turn left, and the person he pulled in front of waved him through - the claims person I'm dealing with called that the "wave of death". So, instead of creeping out to be sure the way was clear, he just pulled right out - straight into my path. I was able to hit the breaks for maybe 1/2 second before I T-boned him center-mass on the passenger side.

My airbag didn't deploy ... we're thinking it was faulty because my car is FUCKED UP. When looking head-on, you can see the front of my car is a good 4 - 6 inches off of center. The hood nearly ripped off the hinges and it's wrapped around the headlight on one side. Fenders bent on both sides. Door won't open on one side. Fluid leaking from somewhere. Steering is, shall we say, goofy. My insurance would total it...but we're going after the other guy's insurance.

Guess what I crashed into. Come on...it's fun.

A BEAMER! Some 17ish kid was driving with his sister in daddy's BMW. Thier side imact airbags deployed. Both door are punched in, and both window exploded. The driver was OK, looking more worried than anything. I bet dad's going to rip him a new asshole tonight. His sister (in the passenger) had glass all over her hair, and a nasty looking scrape on her arm. It was a good 6" or more, but it wasn't really bleeding at all. I'm guessing it's from the airbag. Look like it hurt like hell (and she was crying), but hopefully it's nothing serious.

I'm fine and dandy. My elbow got banged on something and is a little sore, and ribs on on side are sorta sore. I'm sure I'll feel worse in the morning. My other accident was worse (nothing like bouncing your head off something solid real quick).

I really can't even get mad about it. Seems like a waste of energy. I just hope this doesn't take 2 months for me to get a new car. I figure with a 2006 BMW, insured with State Farm, that I've got a decent chance of having things turn out ok. :main_rolleyes:

Ugh Shanti. What's the deal here lately? Stupid people...I guess they're just anywhere and everywhere. I'm glad everyone seems to be okay. Let us know how you feel in the morning. I hope you can get some money and a new car quickly. It's awful not having wheels.

Man I hate this kind of stuff, ever since I got a call from Val when she was in her accident.

Again let us know how you feel tomorrow...what a great way to enjoy your ID4 Day huh. Keep us posted on the insurance too. Hang in there.

Holy Shit!!
I am glad that you are ok.

I was the passenger in that exact type of accident when I was 17ish.

Hope it all turns out ok. You should be able to get a rental car. Their insurance should cover it. Fight for every penny. Your being injured and inconvienced should be compensated.

Thanks Ryan. I'll be sure to update. If I wanted to go through my insurance, I could have money by Thursday (so long as there aren't problems with the title...which there might be because it's from TX and not IL). However, it means that my deductible applies and I wouldn't get it back for quite awhile. By going directly to the other guy's insurance I should be able to get a rental car, and hopefully a bit more money, and none of that deductible crap.

WTF?!? WHen I opened this thread and started reading it I thought it was from months ago when you had the 1st accident. Two accidents in that short of a period of time that both f-up your car has got to be like lightening striking the same place twice.

I'm glad you're alright, Shanti. Like Jeremy said, go after every penny possible. If ANYTHING starts to feel funny, get your butt to the doctor right away.

Consult with a personal injury attourney. They should do the consult for free and if the other insurance company gives you any trouble you will already have someone ready to fight for you.

I feel fine today. Still a little sore spot on my elbow, shoulder is a tiny bit sore...but otherwise I'm A-OK.

Good news - Eric still trusts me to drive his car. LOL

Glad you're feeling ok, Shanti! I hit the back of an SUV when I had my Eclipse going around 30 mph and I hurt for over a year. I'd go see someone now for your elbow and shoulder, but as the doctor told me it can take weeks for accident related injuries to surface. I hope you're in the clear, because I never want to deal with that pain ever again! Keep us updated!

WOW, Shanti! I am sooooo glad you weren't hurt! I don't understand why you would have to pay your deductible if you went through your own insurance company for a 'no fault' accident. Usually, they will pay you the value of your car and then get reimbursed by the other insurance company. At any rate, you should be entitled to a rental car.

It's goofy. I would have to pay the deductible, and then would get it beck after the other insurance company pays them. I'd eventually get my money, but it's a hassle.

I agree with Russ that you should consult an attorney. After I had my bad accident, I thought I was totally fine but after a while the soreness in my knee (from it hitting the dash) never went away. By the time I realized that I probably needed x-rays, the insurance company refused to pay. Plus, they totally screwed me over on the repairs on my car (which sounds like the exact same shape yours is in). I guess in some cases twisted frame does not = totaled car.

I hope the guys insurance treats you fairly and gets you a rental car quickly. And I blew a kiss to your elbow!

Oh My! Shanti, I am so happy that you are ok! 2 accidents - totals in 3 months, are you trying to make the Guinness Book of World Records?

I had chinese for lunch, and my fortune cookie said "Someone is looking out for you".

Ain't that the truth? Some might consider 2 totals to be horrible luck...but considering I walked out of both with nothing worse than a headache - I think someone IS looking out.

Arg ... I know they're just doing their job, trying to save their ass ... but State Farm is pissing me off.

About rentals: We don't do direct rentals. We reimburse on a labor per day ... blah blah blah ... after repairs are done ... blah blah blah ... we're a bunch of douchebags.

About my car being totaled: What makes you think your car is a total loss?
Hey...how about MY insurance saying it's totaled? You know - that person you've already talked to.

About verifying it's totaled: We'll send someone out to look at it. Wait, it's at a business parking lot? We don't do that.

THE FUCK YOU WON'T. All I want is to NOT get fucked in the ass, and get a new car. It's not a problem to my insurance...so why is it a problem to them?

I can see Marcia's ears burning. LOL

Anyway, they haven't even talked to the other guy yet ... or so they say.

Ok, I just heard back, and they are accepting liability and are sending someone to pick up the car...maybe tomorrow, maybe Monday. Ugh I'm sure it's going to be a ball when it comes to determining the value of the car. Yea...I've got my ducks in a row and they're ready to go into mortal combat.
