I wasn't going to post my new baby yet, but she/he (unsexed) ate last night for us. She doesn't have a name yet, but will soon. I didn't realize she would be quite so tiny, so I'm going to move her to a smaller tub later today. I am soooo in love though. I took almost 2 years to research green tree pythons and I felt like I was finally ready (yes I know they are bitey). She's obviously too small to handle right now, but she is pretty friendly and curious. I had to go out and buy smaller pinkys and a smaller water dish yesterday, too. We're going to glue the perches in her smaller tub, too. Right now she's curled up on her perch on the cool side. I have the temps at 86 on the warm side and around 78/79 on the cooler side.

CONGRATS!

Thanks Robin! I've had Greg Maxwell's book for about a year now and I've read it a couple times. I've been referencing it a lot lately, too. The internet forums have been helpful, too. I know they can be sensitive and I was a bit nervous. But I feel much better since she ate a day after being shipped.:D I think she's gorgeous.

she is gorgeous!

when they are this age, keeping them warm and hydrated and fed are the best things to do. you know what i find work well for this size baby? they are small square sterilites with snap on lids. they are 8 x 7 x 6 1/2 high

I bought a 6 qt tub and a 15 qt tub yesterday (she's in a 30 qt right now which is way too big). I thought I'd start with the smaller tub and then move her up in a few months when she gets a bit bigger. Once she's 12-18 months, then she'll go in her big cage.

She's alll moved into her smaller tub now. She only struck once (with a closed mouth) last night when we were moving her. She ended up going into my husband's hands pretty easily and then didn't want to let go. She also made her first potty here.:)

Since I don't know her sex, I decided to go with a neutral name. Even though she's pretty sweet right now, her name is Killer. I had to stick with the horror theme and it was the only thing I could come up with. So my snakes are Fido and Killer.:)

I've used some last names for geckos already. Aliens isn't too sci-fi. It's close enough to horror.;)

I think Killer might be a good name for her. She ate Friday and last night she was already in her hunting position looking for more food.:) I just adore her!
