I gotta ask...Did ya get his name from the MMA fighter, Mauricio Shogun Rua? I thought that was cute...i'm doing an MMA theme for all my hatchlings this year. The first two are going to be Mario Yamasaki and Steve Mazzagatti. :D

 No I actually didn't name him after any MMA fighters...although now that you mention it...it sounds like a REALLY good idea...I was actually trying to keep a japanese-y(lol) theme going and I thought to myself, "Who was bigger and badder than any samurai?" So I said, "DUH!!! The samurais boss!" So yea thats how he got his name :D BTW Maia if you happen to see this would you please use your herp vet knowledge to give me any possible reason why he has a strange little growth on his tail? I would really appreciate it...I can also take better pictures if you need them :)

Ya know, to me, that growth looks like simply an overgrowth of skin. Of course, i'm not saying that's what it is, i'm just saying that's what it looks like. Maybe one of his roomates got a little excited at some point, and took a chunk out of him and it's possible that's the way it grew back. Does it feel any different than the rest of the tail? I would keep an eye on it, and if it gets any larger, maybe have it needle biopsied...the only problem with that is, you run the risk of having the gecko drop its tail during the biopsy. But without looking at the cells microscopically, it's impossible to be able to know exactly what it is.

^_^ Thank you so much for that! It actually feels exactly the same as the rest of his tail...soft and squishy...I will keep an eye on it...if it does get any bigger I will get him checked out...I dont mind if he drops his tail as long as we can find out what it is...
