Here is my setup.
pokeysviv1.jpg

Just subtracted the sand and remodeled. It's at a weird angle because honestly I wanted to show off my pottery piece I added over the water dish. :main_thumbsup: It's as big as my face! Also has 3 decent sized holes. Pokey loves it. I decided to make 3 hides like most everyone here. Anything that will make my gecko as happy as I am having her.

Looks awesome. I like how you made his home. Word of warning which I didnt believe myself and found out the hard way recently. Dont put him around loose substrate. He will eat it and start shitting rocks. Maybe try rebuilding with foam and grout for the same effect.

+1. Also you might want to add a moist humid hide since they are on a dirt substrait it will dry their skin out more than if they were on tiles (vinyl, ceramic or slate).

Here is the tank set-up I'm using for my leo right now. My substrate is brown paper lawn bag (my idea!). The silver thing sticking out of the right hide is the thermometer I use to check the floor temp above the UTH, which I try to do daily. I control the UTH temp with a lamp dimmer. I covered the ends of the hides with cardboard and put a small opening in the front because I felt like he was just too exposed. The hide in the middle is his humid. Kind of boring set-up but it works, he seems happy. Now hopefully I can get the image on here.

Here's mine so far. I think I want to get him a cozier cave - I think its too much of a "man cave" right now.

I just added the second level 3 weeks ago and I see him up on it every night - especially if he notices the crickets hiding out up there. For some reason he won't use the branches to get back down -- he just plops off the edge. And he enjoys knocking over the fake cactus plant thingy. :/ He's a silly rascal. :main_thumbsup:

DIY desert terrarium - natural look

I've recently completed a desert terrarium for my leo. I adopted this little girl who's missing one of her back legs (never got the whole story on how that happened - perhaps a clutch mate attacked her?) . . . anyway, I wanted to give her a very natural looking home that would be of display quality.

The set-up is a 20L I bought 2nd hand and the construction was pretty simple. I'll get around to posting pictures and instructions on the DIY thread. I used great stuff expanding foam, tan silicone caulk, crushed walnut shells (adhered with the caulk to minimize risk of ingestion), some succulents planted in the background, some dry grass, and a few tiles of limestone under the hide for an even hot spot. I'm going to work in a humid hide in the next week, but she just shed and shouldn't need one immediately.

I posted on here a page or 2 ago, but I wanted to show some changes I made. Nothing real big. Kind of wondering what people think about it. :)

i really like how the plants hang...its a little frustrating when you have plants on the floor of the tank and the crickets like to hide back in them. you have to shake em out sometimes...but its simple and cute. i like :)
