The more carrot tail you start with the more you will end up with in the offspring for sure, but I have had shtct's with lower amount of carrot tails produce some with a higher percentage of carrot on the tail. It's just not as common as in breeding 2 with more carrot tail. Remember the better off your starting point is the better your results will be.

so if i want to strive for like 75% CT I should buy parents that are like 50% at least?

So who online that ships to Canada has the most CT with their SHTCTs?

I agree with Gregg. You have a better chance of getting nice carrot tails with outstanding adults but you can also hatch less than desired phenotypes as well.

Going back to your original question.... you are better off picking the nicest tangs you can find and breeding them together. It's just not guaranteed they will "all" be really nice.

I also agree with Gregg, is a similar case of the Piebalds (Ball Python morph) You can bred 2 10% White Piebalds and get babies with 80% for example.

Check with Albey, he has some awesome CT..

I have to disagree with Gregg on this at least with True Carrot-tails. I have been breeding Carrot-tails for over eight years now and for the last five of those every offspring I have produced has had as much or more Carrot-tail than the parents. Once again, I am talking about True Carrot-tails the ones that were first produced by Ray Hine, not just an animal that has a random bit of color in its tail. I think you will get the idea from the photos that follow. By the way every picture is of a different animal.

I concur with Albey 100% (who wouldn't?) but...

Gregg's point is valid due in part to...

... Different lines do not always meshing up perfectly. The EXACT genetics behind a "SHTCTB" are not always 100% true throughout the realm of "SHTCTB". With outcrossing and seperate lines going different directions, a blanket statement of " 70% x 70% makes 70% " would be untrue.

I have trouble wording what I mean, so sorry if this leaves further questions.

I have no problem with that, and the wording comes through loud and clear.

This is not true at all... You can have 2 breeders with 90% ct produce offspring with less than 30%...

If you noticed I did not say all offspring. Kindof took it out of context a little there. I would never say 100% of the offspring would come out with awesome carrot tail. I just see better results with higher percentage carrot tail over lower percentage, but I have had the odd higher percentage carrot tail out of a low carrot tail pair.
