When i got my leopard gecko from the store and broght it home i noticed that it has some dead skin on it toes from the last time it shed. Is there any thing i should do or just let it come off on its own?

No, take it off now.

Either wet a q-tip and roll it off, or you can soak his feet in a bit of water and try rolling it off again.

Sometimes shed skin can cut off circulation in the toes, leading to loss of some toes.

You should check after every shed to make sure there is none stuck anywhere on his body or extremities.

Yes and nothing was coming off but i could still see the dead skin

Still?!
The longer it sits there, the harder it will be to get off.
Keep up with the warm water and q-tip treatment.
Yes I know, your leo wont like it much, and will squirm
and run away, but you dont want him to loose toes.

I have this issue with my Leo, it has greatly improved since I started reading here and got a moist hide. I know it's not recommended but I have used a pair of tweezers to remove dead skin that is very difficult to get off, I simply grab a piece of skin THAT STICKS UP and hold onto it, usually the Leo will shake her foot or you can slowly and gently pull it off. If the skin is plastered down onto the toe you must use a Q-tip to rub it and make a piece stand up or you can't use the tweezers (you might grab live skin under the dead skin) Mine has lost toes because I cannot get it off all the time, last time I tried getting it off I tried way too long and ended up with a leo attached to my finger :main_thumbsdown: I do feel awful for the loss of toes, most if not all of them happened before I knew anything about Leos, I'm glad I know more now and have prevented it from happening many times. I don't know why some Leos have such a hard time. Do try and get it off, do multiple short sessions, be gentle and patient.

it shouldn't be that hard to get off. I had a leo with 5-7 years worth of stuck, dead, dry skin on her toes. when I read about warm soaks, i took her home from school over the weekend like i usually do and gave her a soak. I used tweezers and my fingers and all the skin came off nicely. but the poor thing had already lost her toenails :(

Difficulty may depend on the tameness of your Leo, I don't frequently handle her so she is not very happy about it. since i do have to take off her skin so often (today for instance, all but 3 toes had skin and half her head had skin) I probably should start handling her more so she does not always think handling is me picking at her. I am happy that this time i was able to get everything off! And no biting.

I have only had me leo for a week and its not used to me handling it yet so all it does is squirm around and try to get out of my hand which makes it really hard

I have two leos, Rosie (normal) and Blondie (blizzard). I have only once seen a remnant of Rosie's shed and that was because I was cleaning the tank and took her out to do it. Blondie on the other hand is a bi-weekly shedder and has always had problems with her toes to the point that she lost a couple nails. I have had moist hides on the warm side from day one, but she will not go in them I tried different kinds and different substrates she still refuse. One day I resorted to bathing her and that helped but it still took 3 days even with the baths being hour long. I finally put spaghum moss in the bottom of the pail and then added warm water. The moist moss acted as a defoilant and within 30 min, a damp Q-Tip rolled across her toes removed all the shed! Just a thought

I agree with the above, either that's one stressed out gecko, or a gecko that's going to be huge because it can't stop growing haha.

After hearing this i have realized my 2 geckos, which i got from a friend are missing toenails. Probably most of the toe as well. Hence why i guess they a clumsy climbers. They too get stuck skin i guess i will work on that tomorrow after work. I was going to just leave it alone too, good thing i looked at this.
