Skin stuck on eye lip and above lip

My leopard gecko shed 1 day ago but he has a little skin left on his eye lid and the top of his mouth and a bit on the tip of his nose. I have tried bathing it with a cotton wool bud it started coming off yesterday but he tried getting away so I had to stop. So today it's still there and it's not loosening with water. I have bought zoomed shedding aid and put it on where his excess skin is. I am worried... how long till the skin should start coming off? Any ideas... will it come off next time he sheds because I have put the shedding aid on it so it should be easier. He has a humid hide and his temp is at 30c at the min. Don't know what else I can do. Please help!!

Hold him gently and use your fingernail or a tweezers to pull it off. It may take awhile because he may keep moving his head, but eventually you should be able to get it off. Usually water or cotton wool doesn't do the trick because the shed needs to be pried up. I do this all the time and everyone is OK.

Shedding aid works pretty fast to soften the skin. After that, the skin will just dry out again. If the gecko hasn't gotten it off in another day, it probably isn't trying. I would try to do as Aliza suggested and carefully remove the skin.

Imo shed aid is just a gimmick...in my 18 years keeping herp I have never used shed aid.. Water soaks and rubbing it off or using tweasers.. The little rubber finger tips work great for helping with stuck shed.. Second step would be to correct husbandry to prevent bad sheds

Yes, water does work really well. I have found in my experience that bad sheds aren't always due to bad husbandry. It can also be stress, or even unknown factors. It is worth reviewing husbandry to make sure nothing stands out as a possible problem.

A small amount of retained shed around the nose or mouth can sometimes loosen over the next few days with proper humidity and access to a humid hide. However, shed stuck around the eyelid area should be monitored closely because retained skin near the eyes can occasionally cause irritation or complications if left for too long. Avoid pulling the skin off forcefully, as this can injure your gecko. Gentle soaking, maintaining appropriate humidity, and using a reptile-safe shedding aid as directed are usually the safest approaches. If the skin remains stuck for several more days or if you notice swelling, redness, or difficulty opening the eye, it would be wise to consult an experienced reptile veterinarian.
