i received my geckos in the mail today from JMGReptiles and they both have been sleeping since 2-3 pm and it is now 11pm, i have kept them as dark as possible. Should I be worried or just assume that I would be tired to after being shown in a reptile show, boxed up, and sent in the mail????

Give them some time to settle in and their usual routine will re-establish itself. Don't worry if they don't eat for awhile. My last gecko that came in the mail didn't eat or poop for 2 weeks and he's fine now.

Assume that they're tired and are just trying to get used to their new environment. When i had my gecko shipped she ran around the cage for like 30mins then disappeared into a hide for 3days, lol.

A week later shes out and about, eating like a little pig!

they both found themselves bathrooms after being in the tank for 5 minutes, yeah i dont think its a problem cause they will wake up and adjust but still didnt think they would sleep this long, the female has claimed the moist hide since she found it and the male is guarding the ramp into it

What are you high and low cage temps? If the high is 90-92 they will be ok. Just make sure you have a calcium dish and fresh water available. Like acpart said, they will settle in with time.

Do you have them together because you want to breed them?

If so, are they the right breeding age (weight)?

Human foreplay (and afterplay) includes spooning; gecko foreplay is mostly biting and tail rattling. They don't go in for afterplay. Some lying together seems to be mutual comfort but sometimes it is actually bullying. It's probably bullying if one gecko follows the other around and lies on top of it wherever it goes.

My AFT's on the other hand spoon together in one hide no matter how I try to encourage them to give each other more room, and they're both thriving.

How true :main_yes:
When I had 2 females together I thought they really loved each other because one was always using the other for a pillow!! :D
I kept wondering why the one that was the "pillow" acted so strange.
She seemed to be afraid of me, would not eat, and was constantly trying
to escape.
After I seperated them, she was fine and I realized she was being "bullied"
the whole time. And dumb me, I kept going; awwwww, they are soooo
cute, they love each other!! and she was going; "get me away from this
nasty bi@@h!!! :p

You will need to separate them very soon because they might try to breed way too early, like maybe at 30 or 35 grams. That will be bad physically for both of them. For the male, because he may stop eating in his mating excitement at a crucial time for him to be continuing to grow, and for the female who needs to use a lot of her physical resources to make the eggs and who also may become egg bound because she's too small.

I agree with the general consensus that these 2 should be seperated asap. They will breed as soon as they are physically capable, which isn't healthy for either of them. Just think of how healthy it is for 12-13 year old girls to get pregnant. ;) As mentioned above, you may want to try crickets. I'm pretty sure that's what the Jeffs feed their Leos (I have to mention that I have had no problems weaning my Leos from them over to mealies, it just took a bit for them to adapt ;)). That said, they may take a week or so to adjust anyway. Sometimes it just takes time for them to adjust and become comfortable. Just make sure that if you try crickets, to make sure not to leave any uneaten crickets in with them. They will be likely to chew on your Leos, additionally stressing them out.

Good luck! And post some pics when you get a chance! We'd love to see them! :)

I was lucky enough to talk to Jeff Sr. today and he confirmed that they were 3 months old and raised on crickets. I will try them at his recommendation of a 7-14 day period before they will probably eat and I should just wait.
Secondly i was donated a second tank today to separate them in the future.
Thirdly, Jeff Sr. stated that even though many of you believe they should be separated, he didnt think it was necessary. He told me that although possible, a very slim chance exists that the female would accept the male before she is physically ready (she is larger than the male which is her advantage)and he would not feel the need to separate until I see signs of aggression or attempted breeding. He even told me he leaves his young leos together without worry.
Fourthly and most important, my small male leo had his first shed in his new home, he needed help with his back foot that he could not reach and allowed me to pull it off. After helping him he decided I was good company and laid in my hand and allowed me to pet his head for several minutes before running off.
