Smaller Tank Leos More Active

I just went from a 90G fish tank with 3 leos inside 1 male and 2 Females. They never really came out much even at night. Well I just moved the 2 Females into a 36x18x18 Terrarium and the male into a 18x18x18. Now I see them out more then I see them hiding. It's only been 3 days but could the large tank make them feel not safe compared to the smaller ones?

It's interesting. Some people say the opposite, that they find their leos move around more when they get transferred to a larger tank. Of course I don't remember what size the second destination was in those cases.

I've noticed that if the cage is TOO big, it can have the same effect as too small of an enclosure- at least in the case of my leos. I think part of it is due to the larger heat gradient and also partially due to the fact that they might feel too exposed to come out of hiding, even with lots of hiding spots.

That is an interesting observation to note though...

^ agree with sam. That would be my guess. They could just be exploring since they experienced environment change. Where I'm from, these past weeks have been extremely unseasonably hot and I notice my geckos are a lot more active, especially my bell.
