You know how some geckos smile, is that because they are happy or is that because their face is just like that. Its just that mine dont have smiling faces they just have "I wanna kill you" faces. And I was wondering if they really are sad/evil or if their face is just different.

Reptiles lack the proper muscles in their faces to make any expressions. They are also rather limited in the emotion department anyway. ;) Reptiles do not have the proper parts of the brain that produce emotion.

while they can't exactly smile they can express things with their posture. i can't say my gecko smiles, i can definitely tell when he is content and when he just wants the world to go away.

I've noticed that some geckos have slightly different shaped heads or faces. My Tiamat looks as though she is smiling, but my new boy Mandarin, looks kind like he's going "Hrmm". lol

A lot of leos have different eye shapes, the wider the eye, the "happier" they appear, the longer the top "eyebrow" the more exspressive they appear.. If there are patterns surround the top and bottom lip then the smile crease is much more difficult to see and therefore you get geckos that may appear emotionless or not smiling (which is true butttt, lol) so yup

I think it's just the shape of the mouth, kinda like with dolphins.

My female gives me an anime-style smile, huge eyes and all :p
But my male looks like he's plotting to destroy the world :main_laugh:
