Hi guys!

I got hold of this Enigma 3 days ago and we were not sure whether this is a Snow Enigma or not. We know its a het Raptor but we're not sure if the Snow gene is present on this little one. My friend (Breeder/produced this gecko) said that when this fellow hatched out, he was all white and the yellowish hue took over after a few days after.

I would really appreciate the help.:)

Thanks!

Parents: Snow Enigma het Tremper x RAPTOR

I would say that the yellow coming in is from the Tremper. This is a little confusing tho, because albinism means no black pigment. And well, as we all can see, there is alot of black, lol. The white tail prolly came from the RAPTOR part, and the bands are typically what snows have, altho this is a very generalized statement.

...and the head looks alot like the head of a Snow... Altho i don't see too many enigmas traits on this little guy... very few, if any...

Yes, this is Snow. The bands/markings are indicitive of the snow gene.

band are indicative of many morphs. those bands alone can not distinguish if this indeed a show. most likely the only was to find out, sadly is to try and prove it out next season.

Yes. Very true. However, in this case, we know what the parents are, so one would assume that the bands on this leo are indicitive of it being snow... since it came from a snow. lol... I don't think the bands would be from a completely different morph thats not even in this particular pool of genes, now would it?? lol :main_thumbsup:

One would have to make an educated guess and say that the bands on this lizard are snow............... :main_robin:

Yes its enigma but snow is unsure. looks potentially but i wouldn't say yes for sure. You are expanding your collection like crazy... don't get ahead of yourself, esp with all the morphs your getting and trying to create. I'm not doubting your ability or anything but if you have never bred reptiles then your in for a wild ride next season. Its fun and relatively easy with leos but your going to have so many genes going around your going to be posting "what am I" posts every hatch-ling and then still be basing what it is off of other peoples educated guesses. As I said before you have some beautiful leos but just relax a minute and enjoy the ones you have and worry about creating crazy morphs after you know you will enjoy the breeding process as well as have a better understanding on the genetics.

Being banded has nothing to do with ANY morph only the lack of them in the Patternless Stripe, Murphy's Patternless and Blizzard (base morphs).

Since the above cross can make normals, and most normals are just banded then should I answer with it being just a very nice normal? :main_rolleyes:

oh Fe, How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,—I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

I'm enjoying the hobby. It just so happen that this little guy came along and caught my attention. I care for my animals, and I dont think you know what I me that well to give such a reaction. Yes, I'm going crazy about the leos. That's why I am here in the forum. All my queries doesn't concern normal morphs which I obviously understand.

If you're having a bad day don't pin it out on me. If you don't like my queries then don't reply. Its that simple.

i dont think he was trying to be mean at all, just probably giving a little advice. perhaps from personal experience or maybe not. in a way i would have to agree with him. but you have some gorgeous geckos and it looks as though you are having fun but i have an idea that next season is going to be very overwhelming for you. hang in there, learn and have fun!

I have to agree with Robin that it was not an attack just pointing out that you're going to have your hands full come breeding season if you keep a the rate you're going. Good Luck with all the beauties you have and more that I'm sure you'll produce. This is a very fun hobby and I look forward to seeing your babies in the future!!!

As Fe and Robin pointed out, I was not intending to be disrespectful or offensive, I just have seen multiple new additions within a month after your first post stating you were new to leos. I am not judging or anything because they are very addictive and we all wish we could always get just one more. But its very easy to get ahead of yourself and loose the joy of actually owning them. That's all I meant. You have an amazing group and just would hate for the passion to turn negative on anyone. My apologies if I have offended you or any other forum members.

I think I agree with Marcia...

Either way, this is definately an enigma, and I would bet on it NOT being a snow. I've had a few enigmas hatch out almost white, with no snow parents. They get color in a matter of days, where as a true snow usually wouldn't get color for weeks or months, and probably wouldn't be this bright.
