The last few years my Fat-tail production has been off so last year I replaced all of my Female Breeders with my best of 2006’s. Production was better this year but I only got eggs from three out of the six new girls. Hopefully this year will really kick it into high gear. Here are the new Females.

This is the Male I used to breed them with.

The Babies I produce with them are developing quite nicely. In a later post I will get some pictures up of them.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Wow those are some Fatties, and OMG that guy is almost red!

Unfortunately he doesn’t look like that any more. He has done the whole washed out appearance Amel’s do after a few years (I produced him in 2003). Luckily some of his offspring are that red in color so he is passing on the genes, which is the important thing. The Females on the other hand still look just like their pictures.

I know what you mean, I had a very orange Amel male, and now he is more of a light peach color. Hopefully I will get to see his babies this year, from a few of my het Amel females. I think that they were from Dragon`s Den AFT stock, which was bought out by Evergreen Reptiles. They have some very nice deep colored Amel parentage, and I am pretty sure my male is as unrelated as it gets. I sure hope the hets will pass that color on with my male, even though they are all from less colorful geckos than we have now.

Even at 2 & 1/2 years to 3 years old my girls were not ready to breed last year. It really makes AFT`s alot harder to breed than Leopard Geckos, thats for sure.

I must have really just got lucky many years ago. I "accidentally" bred imported`s I had kept together. I was told they were two females(goofy petstore), and hatched out a perfect clutch, just in a dresser drawer! I was maybe 18 years old, and found the eggs one day, not knowing what else to do, I decided to incubate them in there. I think I just put moss in a container, and misted them every so often. I had never even heard of "Albey`s method" at the time, and it took them forever to hatch without heat, but they still made it. lol
