These cages are all 50*40*40 cm.
I am planning to make a little tower of them, and maybe use them for offspring. Not sure yet tho. I hope you like them.

They are still under construction, I'll post updates as soon as I get more work done on them

Can I ask how you make them??

I know they are made out of carved styrofoam.. but do you cover them with something before you paint them? Maybe with grout or spackle? Is sand glue to them?

Just kind of wondering. Hope you don't mind.

thanks

Basically I cut out some basic shapes (blocks) out of the styrofoam. Then shape it with hot wire tools (there are plenty diy tutorials for those tools around on the net).

Once I am satisfied with the design, I put 2 or three layers of tile grout on and let it dry. Then I use epoxy resin as a final coat. I dont paint them at all. I use color pigments in the epoxy resin and when the resin is curing (about 30 min after mixing the 2 components) I sprinkle quarzsand over the wet epoxy. You can brush away the excess sand after 3 or 4 hours.

I am not going to make a tutorial but this is how I do it. It takes abit of practice to work with the hot wire cutter and the epoxy resin.

A thermostat? I,m not going to put in sun bulbs at all. For light during the day I am going to use t5 tl, and for heating i have a pulsed thermostat with a ceramic heatwave bulb

Acidix, first of all- fantastic!
Now, a few questions: Do you put the sand AFTER you coverd the foam with colored resin?
Do you maje a few bowls of resin and put in each bowl different pigments and only then you cover the foam with it?
What kind of grout, quarzsand, resin and pigments do you use?
Thank you and keep posting pics of the floor and etc...
