Hey, I have some geckos that i've cared for for a while. And one is the "regular" everyday "high Yellow" leopard gecko.

The second she's just a totally different color, has different spot characteristics and acts totally different from the high yellow one.

I purchased them as babies two years ago at a pet store.. so I have no other info on as who, where, what etc.

If the female is some kind of morph, I would really like to be more informed about them.

Let me be the first to say that 1, sand isnt healthy or normal for them and 2 it looks disgusting. How often do you clean out their sand? There are bits of shed and poop all over it.

Normal as well.

Normal, with quite an interesting and visually attractive spot pattern may I add.

I agree with the above, a cage cleaning seems long overdue, and you should try as soon as possible to get them to a solid substrate.

Kidding.. It's not sand.. And there like not a lot of cleaning needed.. It's just a picture.. The glass is dirty on the outside.. 1 bit of skin and a turd isn't atrocious.. Plus..

I may just try leopard gecko for dinner tonight. I hear they taste like chicken.

You may want to fatten them up first.

Fatter? Who eats fat? I'm going to work their little butts off and train them for the gecko olympics. Fat anything sucks.. And will not be tolerated in my house.

If that's not sand then I'm blind. It's brown and it's sparkly. I used it way back in the day when I first started out. Only tanks I am running now have tile now. So much easier.

Please, with the above posted, are any of you actually taking this guy seriously? That is obviously sand and the cage is obviously dirty. I don't mean to carp or be rude, but I don't want to waste my time, nor to I have the patience for flippant attitudes.

I dunno, it looked like an attempt at humor to me. Not a stellar one, but an attempt.

To the OP, I think your speckly-spotted gecko might be a het murphy's patternless, it's common for them to look like that, but it's not always the case, some geckos are just more speckly than others. I'm not sure which subspecies that sort of high speckling came from, might be interesting if someone else knows.

I think they both look pretty healthy, but everyone has the best intentions here when they mention ditching the sand. And everyone knows geckos poop, but this is kind of a showcase of sorts for the animals, so it's always nice to avoid poop being in the photos you share. Just sayin'.

Look around in the DIY and Housing sections to get some ideas about alternatives to the substrate you're using. Out of curiosity, if it's not sand, what is it?

It looks like a 'granite' to me, just a line-bred speckled pattern. It could also be het. blizzard. I have heard that they also have the speckled look. I also would want to know what that is if its not sand.

I'm not aware of "granite" being in leopard geckos, I thought that was a fat-tail thing?
Blizzard hets do sometimes also have that speckled look, but I personally notice it more often in hets for murphy's patternless.
