Ok, for those that don't know me, or those that forgot, my Ex's dog Brittney gave birth to 3 puppies about 2 years ago. One of those puppies was Spike. Well, even though I argued and pleaded, my Ex, Bobby, sold Spike to a guy in New York, yes people, we can't keep them all, unfortunately.

I hated the guy because I was sure he wasn't going to take as good care of Spike as I did (Yes, I was being selfish, but I LOVE SPike!). Well, he is taking GREAT care of Spike, he couldn't have gone to a better person.

Here are some puppy pictures of Spike:

Jason, Spikes new owner got him in shape and took him to a ADBSI Show and Spike RULED that show! It was a 2 day show, and in those 2 days Spike won Best in his Class both days, Best in Show both days, Judges Choice the 2nd day, and Best Red Nose on the 1st day. To become a Champion Show dog you need 100 points, well Spike already has 50 points from just 2 days!

Here he is with one of the judges:

Congrats. Pretty cool he let you guys know what was going on with him. He's a good looking dog.

I'd love to show MIA, but she's never been trained on it, and I don't know how formal the ADBA shows are. In terms of gait and whatnot. Plus, she's scared of everything, and I think she'd flip out.

Jeanne, I've been thinking about it for a few hours. I've seen a few show APBT's where they are very toned, and you can see each muscle indention, like the pictures of Spike.

Is this what the judges look for?

To me, those dogs appear skinny (even though they're really not). MIA is more smoothely defined. Without the major creases from her muscles (if that makes sense).

The judges are definitely looking for that lean muscular look. Here is a look at some of the other dogs at the show:

Really? See that's really not htat attractive to me. I think Spike is a gorgeous dog, but the lean look.. Eh. :-\ Maybe it's just me...

What about shows where Razor's Edge bloodlines are entered? They're more of a short and stout dogs, versus lean.

In that type of show they are looking for a more lean look...not the stout that is why we have never entered JD into a show. I dont know how well Razors Edge bloodlines would do (it really all depends on the show though and what criteria the judges are looking for that particular day)

I've been to many shows, ADBA as well, and the lean muscular dogs always seem to win. At least up here in New Eng. they do.

Even when I brought Abbie to a show (Before she had knee surgeries). She won 1st in her class (6-9 Months I believe) and Best Puppy. She ALMOST won Judges Choice too. I asked the Judge after the show what I could have done to make it so she would have won Judges Choice, and he said that Abbie needed to be leaner than she was. I'll post pictures of what she looked like in a minute

Ok, you can't really totally tell what she looked like in these pictures, but you get the point:

Her Trophie and Ribbons (She won 2nd Place in her class day 2 as well)

Really? I've seen a few sites where they've showed a few of their breeders and won ribbons on them. I can't find them now, but I saw a few when I was looking for a breeder last year.
