Gravid! The boy is in the background...

You can see the white of the egg and calcium sacks better in this one. Their skin is really translucent. She lays about every 9 days!

Caught the first baby hatching! What a great surprise. About 75 days later at 83f.

Still waiting on the clutchmate, I'll try to get a few shots with a little less eggshell in a few days...;)

Thanks for looking!

Very cool Stenodactylus, I`ve always wanted to keep a couple. How difficult are they to care for compared to say something of the Nephrurus genus?

Thanks guys! Still no clutchmate...I'm starting to wonder if the first two eggs were from different clutches?

Nigel - They're pretty easy, well the CBs at least. Very hardy little geckos. I picked up a few wc's (new blood) and they are a bit tougher. Easily stressed and somewhat finicky eaters. The care is similar to Nephrurus. I only keep Milii though, so not a whole lot to go on there. I give them a basking spot 24/7 @ 90-93 day and 87ish night. Uth at 85 24/7. I house them in 10 gallons on a couple inches of sand. Feed and mist lightly daily and they're happy. I haven't had to cool them yet. They've taken self imposed breaks from breeding about every fourth clutch. Hope that helps!

Thanks again everyone! I finally got her to take a cricket today. She struggled a bit with a 1/4 incher...gonna have to get something smaller...lol

@Malt Geckos - Excessive moisture can case swelling and other problems in hard shelled eggs. Incubating like this offers a little more protection, while still allowing the egg to get the necessary humidity from the air. Other than that they're set up 1:1 on perlite in my female incubator (mini-fridge).

Are they adults? Check for hemipenal bulges...

Other than the prototypical bulges...Males in my collection have tended to hold a somewhat banded pattern and a slim frame. The females tend to be noticably larger with bulkier frames. Their pattern tends to be a bit more broken letting more of the background color through. Kinda tough to describe...Hope that helps.

Feel free to post pics...if necessary. I'll do what I can to help.

A few fun and possibly informative pics...

Growth rate - January, May and August babies
S-Grow1.jpg

the containers measure 4 5/8" x 2"

This shows the size change between 6-12 weeks

From sub adult to adult

The few males I have hatched have grown extremely slow. Male and female both born on 5/02

I was hoping to add a few others (sexing etc)...the light was fading too fast. Another time maybe...

Monte, I've talked with you in the past, and you know how much I want one of these little guys.
They are such amazing little critters, and your pictures are great!
