I have had Ripper since august 14. He is five months old. So far, he has eaten about 10 time, 1-2 waxworms at a time. I try to feed him every other day.He will not eat anything other than waxworms. I don't know why? I am very concerned about him.
In the last two days, he has been going under the paper towel on the cool side and sleeping there. maybe to get heat?

the floor temp. is 94*F

the local pet-store doesnt sell waxworms and I am running out of them.
please help me to improve his eating habits

Here is his setup.

He will not eat anything else if you continue to offer waxies. They're like crack and geckos get hooked. Nutritionally, they aren't good for them to have often, just an occasional treat. Leave some mealworms in his dish and don't give in. When he gets hungry enough, he'll eat those.

Shawn, the overhead light has got to go. Once you get rid of that put some mealies or superworms into a dish and let them go over night. Some geckos are shy eaters and this maybe one of them. Count the mealies and superworms before you go to bed and then again in the morning. You can also monitor is eating habits by wether he is deficating.

Like I told you on the phone, after you remove the lights and get the floor temp 95 it may take a couple of weeks for him to settle in.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Leos can take anywhere from 1-6+ weeks to settle in. This means no handling (unless it's necessary for tank cleaning) until they're back on a regular eating and pooping schedule. Follow Thad's recommendations and I'm sure he'll be back on his normal routine soon.

And...I NEVER recommend wax worms. It's like giving a little kid candy for lunch all week and then expecting them to eat only vegetables.
