If I bred my normal (het for nothing) male to my striped (het for nothing else) female would you consider the babies with non-stripe patterning to be normal? The stripe is actually pretty heavily spotted as is the normal. Pictures will be forthcoming when I get around to it.

normal or aberrant "het stripe" but it depends on the background of what the "normals" or stripes are. i mean is there any hypo or tang in the blood any high yellow. you have to figure though all the line bred traits originally came from some sorta trait on a normal that was selectively bred for.

Thanks. It's going to be hard to tell. The normal was a pet store rescue and while he isn't quite as spotty as the one you posted today, he's definitely not a high yellow. The stripe may be a redstripe outcross but is also pretty spotty. I don't know that I'm going to do this cross any time soon. I have held off on breeding this normal male because I didn't want to overpopulate with "normal" spotty geckos, but they seem to be coming back in style. If I do breed I would be sure to label the offspring as to what they actually are and I would expect that many of them would be quite "normal" looking.

i think the reason normals are coming back is the simple fact that we need non morph non het blood that way some of the morphs can be strenthened just like people are doing with subspecies. also a nice looking normal with excellent contrast are killer!
