I think you're thinking what some others are, maybe melanistic will be the next big push in breeding. The few very dark ones that we've gotten were all from our jungles; JungleRedstripe, even jungle/Redstripe/RW. At first it was disappointment when they started to darken up instead of getting brighter, but then when they're really dark it's hmmmm... Won't hurt to keep an eye on it. How about a jet black with red eyes ? With the Enigmas and others, who knows ??

Cool, yea I`de say it is kind of dark on bottom. Other than that perfectly normal, as it is what is connecting the bands. The "aberrancy" which makes it a Jungle.

That would be awesome... The only thing is that I do not think a jet black leo can ever be produced by selective/line breeding... Selectively breeding for dark color would actually be "hyper melanistic"... In order for it to be a true melanistic, it would have to be totaly black sometimes showing a "blacker" pattern because the melanin is different in the pattern than it is in the rest of the body color... Also, it would have to be a genetic mutation (usually recessive), not a line bred trait....

Yeah, I know, buzzkill... Right??? LOL

HA HA HA!
Nah.. not buzzkill!
but seeing a true axanthic pop up would be pretty sweet. Although most axanthics are usually inc.- doms or just dom right? I know some act recessive from what they say.

Felicia that jungle is awesome!!
I don't know?? I think some of that black may stick around. Beautiful little guy/gal. Keep us posted as it progresses. ;)

I hope this lady is a mutation how can bring us jetblack babies in the future...

Her markings is big and cover a lot of her body. The bodycolor (under her markings) are dark too so she is hyper melanistic in two levels.
The thing she is the only hatchling out of hundreds from the same wildcolored jungle lines who stands dark make me feel this really is something! No line breeding here.
She is 6 years now. In 2008 I will do some inbreedings and see if there is something new ;).

The fist pic is just awful...she is nagged by her husband and got a dirty looking skin from the last fading.

her first and only offspring, female, and just wildcolored (grey):

And if she will produce black babies for the world I can't stop thinking of what enigma and Black velvet can bring together..maybe all black leos with sharp red eyes??

Now that is awesome... The closest thing to a "black" leo I have seen.... That would definantly be considered a hyper melanistic... I think you have something different but still not a true melanistic... And I will tell you what... If you do produce more like that, I want a baby or two... I have my import/export.... :)
