Hi, I've had my leopard gecko for around 2 weeks and I've been struggling to getnthe temperatures right. I have 2 thermometers either side measuring the air temp, but is it more important to measure the floor temp? I have the probe in the air at the moment. It is saying in the warm side it is 27.2°c and the cool side is 24.4°c. And when I check surfaces with an infrared thermometer gun the temperatures keep changing as I move the gun. The basking spot on top of a hide goes as high as 35°c whilst the floor is around 27-30. The probe for the thermostat is on top of the hide, on the surface not air. It is under the heat lamp and thenthermostat is saying the temperate is 33°c which is what I set it to. But at the same time the temperature gun is saying a different temperature. I have a swell reptiles dimming thermostat timer. Please can someone help, and tell me if any of these temperatures are alright and if I should be measuring the floor or air temperature.

Think about leopard geckos in the wild. If you had a temp gun, the temp wouldn't be exactly the same in every place. In general, I think the floor temp is more important and it should be in the neighborhood of 32C. A bit higher or lower is fine, but obviously, if it's 40C, the leopard gecko might get burned under the hide.
