Stupid people ruined my boyfriend's Christmas :(

We've been planning for a puppy for a few months now. Finally have the income, the saved money, the supplies - - all we needed was the dog. We found an ad for the PERFECT puppy right after Christmas. It was everything we'd been looking for. We emailed the owners- - no response. Tried again - - no response. Two days later they took the ad down.

Now, I assume they sold all their puppies and were just too lazy and inconsiderate to answer our inquiries. My boyfriend is heartbroken. He really was set on one of these puppies. We can't find a single one that comes close to being as perfect as the ones we were looking at - - not online, not in pet stores, not in the pound.

I'm just frustrated and a little sad, but mostly I'm mad at these people for allowing Joe to get his hopes up. If they'd just emailed us right away and told us the dogs were gone, maybe he wouldn't have been so hurt. Now who knows how long it'll be before the perfect puppy shows up again.

I guess we'll just put all our supplies into storage for now :/

Seems like when bad things like this happen the 'perfect' one shows up in no time. I'd keep checking the shelters. I know when I got my grey parrot, every bad thing was happening and then finally she showed up and was perfect.

You'll find one, don't give up :) Sorry it ruined your Xmas though.

I know it sucks but everything happens for a reason. It just means that there's an even more perfect puppy out there for you! What breed was it?

A little adage I am very fond of -- "You get the dog (or animal!) you need." Like Mel said, everything happens for a reason. My dog is registered with AKC as "Meant To Be" (with a prefix and all that before it). If you ever want stories, I can tell you how many times the perfect animal has just waltzed in to my life. It hurts now, but just think... the perfect one is out there looking for you!!

That is ignorent and I HATE seeing that when people who hae pups don't respond to an ad they ran. I place dogs for private individuals all the time and would NEVER do that to som eone. Khrysty, if you want, let me know what you're looking for. I have several connections (breeders, rescues, pure breed rescues, shelters, etc) all over the Il, Wi, Va, Oh, Ny, Pa, Mi, Wva areas. After 17 years ya tend to network a bit :) Maybe I can help yas out.

Thanks for the offer. I finally convinced Joe to check out the shelter with me and our perfect little lady was waiting there! She's a border collie/fox terrier mix, probably about 9 months old. House trained, has excellent manners, knows basic commands, and loves everything and everyone. We're so excited to have her. There's still a bit of training to be done (she has zero leash manners), but we're of course eager to put in the time and effort. I'll post in the dog section soon and get pictures up. :D
