Summer Cool Side Temperatures

Hi all!

I have my leopard geckos in a small rack from c-serpents in v-35-s tubs. Right now, the rack is in a room with no a/c, although it has a window and a fan. My concern is that the cool side is getting too warm.

Up until now, I haven't had an issue keeping the racks 88-92 on the hot side and about 78-80 on the cool side. However, now that it is getting hotter, the racks are pretty consistently 83-84 on the cool side. Is this too hot?

The geckos do seem to be spending more time on the cool side than before. If this is not too warm, what is the high end for the cool side? I just put in an a/c window unit in my bedroom so can move them in there if need be.

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

Last summer my geckos and I suffered together in the AC-less house. It got into the 90's during heat waves. The geckos and I all stayed on the cool side. The Rhacs got ice packs. We're all still alive.

I'd certainly keep an eye on your warm-side rack temperatures, as you may be able to turn down the heat a bit as summer progresses. That being said, my "cool side" often gets into the 80s during the worst of summer as well. The reptiles suffer through the heat just like I do...

I like it hot . . .

So does my wife. But when you work heavy construction outside or in some boarded up building during a heat wave you need the ac when you get home. I got heat exhaustion a few years back since then I hate heat waves.

Many years ago I did a job where I was repairing water damage in a 3rd floor apartment during heat wave. I was pretty hot and miserable. I got the whole job done, it rained, and we discovered that the source of the water damage hadn't been repaired. Luckily I didn't have to stay and do it all over again (I still like it hot).

Thanks for the replies! Luckily it has cooled off a bit here for now. I have definitely been monitoring the hot side, and have had to adjust the thermostat a few times when the temps started rising.
