Hello everyone,

This gecko was marketed as a Sunglow. Would you classify it as a Sunglow or a Hybino?

What albino strain do you think he is?

Also please tell me what you think about this gecko.

Thanks!

Sunglow and hybino are pretty much the same thing, sunglows tend to be more bright, is all. I'm leaning toward tremper; a closer eyeshot would rule out rainwater. He's chunky and looks healthy...looks like he has a scar on his left shoulder. Overall, I'd say he's a fine-looking fellow. Nice pick up. =)

Thanks for the reply. What do you think might have caused that scar?

A Sunglow and a Hybino are the exact same thing. They're both Albino SHTCTBs.

Back when the morphs were first created, the name Sunglow was used in association with Tremper Albinos, whereas the term Hybino was used with Bell and Rainwater Albinos. Today however, that's no longer true, as the morph names are used interchangeably.

The use of the morph names Sunglow and Hybino are not dependent on how bright the subject animal is.

Shouldn't the Sunglows have a stronger influence of the tangerine line bred genetic trait than a Hybino?

Also, what albino strain do you think this one is?

Actually, I remember being told that the "hybino" was a Tremper SHT with the superhypo deriving from the Hines line of gecko.

Whoever makes the first combination morph gets to name it. TUG said that they made the first SHTCTB albino, and called it sunglow. Anyone can make one, using their own strain of albino. TUG just said that theirs (that they sell) have their own strain of tangerine in them.

Even though a Sunglow and a Hybino is the exact same morph, Craig Stewart named his Sunglows and the name sounds better than 'Hybino'. The Tangelo is Ron Tremper's version of the original tangerine albino that is claimed to be purely line-bred and does not have any SHTCT influence.

Everyone is going off-topic and no one is actually bothering to reply to the several questions that made this thread. :p Interesting... lol

This Sunglow is weighting 82 grams and measuring around 23cm (9 inch) at two years of age. Might it have some giant genes?

If so, can it be breed with a mature female that is smaller and has no giant genes?
