2 Geckos, prev on superworms. Attempted crickets not working. Bought 1000 mealworms. Not working. They have now been in my care for 10 days and haven't eaten.

Don't tell me to take them to the vet due to they have been on this earth for a year and i know neither of them have issues. The breeder i got them from has friends in high places and comes highly recommended. In no way is this the breeders fault. I just have to figure out do i need to go out and buy Superworms? if i need to i will. I'm ready to rip out the hair on my chin cause i have no hair on my head to rip out.

Thanks,

Ryan

10 days is NOTHING...my tang female went 6 weeks without eating after I bought her. Give them more time to settle in...going from one place to another is really stressfull when you're smaller than a pair of sunglasses. Keep the mealies, and keep offering different varieties of foods. You could try the supers...you might not want to buy a large quantity, just in case. Most of the time they eat at night, so it would help if you offered food then. Mine have to eat after everybody leaves the room.

And don't pull your chin hairs out. That probabbly hurts! :)

I had the same problem! It took nearly 3 months to switch from supers to mealworms. Apparently the mealworms are too "small" and they just don't notice them! I would just keep trying and once and a while just feed supers to keep it from starving(loosing weight, I should say) and it should eat on its own once its stops being so picky.
I know that sounds mean, but that is the only way to get them from being picky.
Edit: I also switched all my breeders from crickets to meal worms by this method. It also helps if you add LOTS of meal worms to the bowl to make it seem more interesting.

Geez I guess I was lucky with mine. He ate the day after I brought him home. Crickets and giant mealworms. I thought the giant mealworms were regular ones until a couple of days ago though. So tonight I'm gonna offer him regular.

Mealworms are all very well and good, but mine seem to make my geckos constipated. I feed Mandarin crickets and small supers and Tiamat will only eat supers and perhaps, the occasional mealworm - but they have to be the giant ones.
