Any suggestions on what bowl/dish I can use to keep superworms from escaping?

Happy Holidays!

Maria, big supers will escape almost any bowl! We use 3/4" glass petri dishes for small/medium supers and mealies, but find it is best to feed larger supers with tongs.
I myself do not like large supers for leos because they can inflict a pretty nasty bite. We had a leo bitten 3 times on the face by a super while eating it. Stick with the small to mediums, or use freshly shed, white supers which are softer and can't bite as badly as the hardened supers. Leos go crazy over the white supers!

i don't think i have ever had a superworm bite me or my leos but bowls to keep in superworms are hard to come by i notice the medium and larger superworms can get out of either (the medium supers are long, just not fat). i would go with bowls with a smooth and high sides, that will be your best bet. if this doesn't hold them and you have issues with that try switching to mealies

I personally use bowls with a semi lid on it (http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...mall-disposable-worm-feeding-dish-water-dish/) i use these bowls for water dish and feeder dish for most of my leos. I have never had an escape from either a mealie or a super (no matter the size). They clean easy, recyclable (cheap), geckos seem to find the food easily, and just overall good little dishes.

my large superworms get out of those LOL but i do use those bowls, they work good for most everything else.

I have been thinking about starting a superworm colony. Yesterday I bought a container of 25 superworms at the chain pet store. Got home and found that there were only 3 worms alive!

I know you aren't supposed to refrigerate supers, but is there a problem with having them shipped in the winter months if the temps are around or below freezing?

some suppliers double box them, others will put heat packs in them. some guarantee arrival only is you sign for them, some do not guarantee live arrival. some places will not ship to certain parts of the country during cold periods. i order from reptilefoods.com and i get mine in fine healthy and alive but then again i live in texas where it is warmer
