So I just went to ***** to try and find a tank and supplies for my expected geckos. I saw a pretty cheap kit that came with a tank, reptile carpet, two food bowls, temp and humidity gauge, a hide, and a 75 W day bulb and 50 W night bulb with fixtures. Now i know I need to add a humid hide another with another hide for the cool side. I was wondering though about the lights. I know that a under tank heater is reccomended but how bad are the lights they gave me? Also what kind of thermostat do people reccomended? Anything else I need ? Thanks!

You really don't need the lights at all. The standard, fairly cheap thermostat (less than $30 if you get it online) is ESU or Alife --I'm pretty sure they're the same thing. Some people have complained that they don't work well for them, but I've been using mine for the past 5 years and have had no problems.

i got the same kit and it works great. I just needed to add my own humid hide. I used the lights until i got him an UTH and they work pretty good. He seems happier with the UTH though, and a little more active. Just one question, is your inc gecko(s) (a) juvenile(s) or adult(s)? Only asking because my baby kept getting his mouth stuck on the carpet whenever he lunged at a cricket so i switch to paper towels until he gets a couple months older

They are young so I will keep an eye on them with the carpet. I have one temp gauge as of now but plan on getting one along with my uth and thermostat. I just built them a humid hide and are anxiously awaiting thier arrival.
