i have had raytek temp guns and they are good the PE -1 is about the same but less money and smaller. technologies these days!

PE-1 all the way. I love that thing. Good price and I've checked it against several different digital thermos and it's spot on.

As far as I know, the main difference between the PE-1 and the Raytech (besides the price tag) is that with the PE-1 the temps need to be measured right on the surface of whatever is being measured, where the Raytech is accurate +/- .02 degrees at 2-4 inches away from the surface. I think for the price and accuracy, the PE-1 is probably the better product for most of our applications. If you can pick up a Raytech for under $50 shipped, that would be my choice because it is more versatile.
