Temperature to colors

Ive read all the logic about incubation temperatures on color, but i have never heard much about what temperature people keep their adults at compared to colors. I have heard a few people every now and then mention behind closed doors that they keep their nice tang lines and stuff slightly hotter, but does this realy do anything? Does it help breeders hold their color longer? I am working on trying to get a nice tang line and I hope someone is willing to let me in on their secret:)

temps are still 90-92 but some have experienced darkening of theirs using a dark substrate instead of white paper towels.

There is a thread or 2 on here about the dark (kraft paper, brown paper towels) having a darkening affect on their leos vs white substrates.

The temp theory os for incubating and is not quite safe as I and other see it.

If you want a nicer looking female incubate at 85-86, you will get some males but you will get nicer females. Temps as adults are not a big deal as long as you keep the 90-92.

Some people also see darkening when they cool their females.

Well, I don't keep it behind closed doors! Yes, it does make a difference. I posted a series of photos of a very nice SHTCT that I kept on a dark substrate vs. white substrate, and different temperatures to demonstrate how it affects the color of the gecko. I can't seem to find that thread now.

Yeah, I don't get why someone would only talk about that behind closed doors. What's the big deal? Is it supposed to be some kind of secret, like, "I keep all my orange geckos at 95 instead of 90! But don't tell ANYONE!"? LOL

I keep all of mine the same, thermostat set at 90 (warm end) cool end room temps.

That's exactly what ours are set at. It's hard enough to keep the "cool" end cool in the summer time. I don't feel like baking our geckos for the sake of making their colors brighter. It also makes it way easier to pick holdbacks when there's a standard lower temperature for everything.

My gecko's are rescues and were really thin when I got them. They also had no heat source. Their colors were really drab and washed out looking.

I don't know if it was the heat or the substrate change or a full belly that did it but they became much more vibrant and both even gained some carrot color on their tails. These pictures are about a month old. They've brightened up even more since then.

Green repti carpet?

Well what about putting them on green repti carpet? That's what I use, and I'm curious if it would do the same thing that the brown carpet did. I've actually noticed that my first gecko has kind of dulled in color, he's a normal and his yellow is kind of dulled, but I don't notice it turning green. I don't want my new SHTCT to turn green, I love her bright color!
