Marcella is on her road to a quick and Happy recovery. I just want to say for all, BE CAREFUL what light you use, just because it says its for reptiles doesnt mean its for all reptiles. We learned this the hard way. Anyway Marcella is Happy now! Shes eating every night, Shedding great and Letting me hold her again. I have no pics of her skin at its worst because I jusst wanted to leave her alone.

Here She is on November 8th at the start of her troubles.

It literally Broke my heart to see her the way she was. Once we figured out it was the light I stopped using it completly and just gave her the light from the window. This is the light we were using

What happened? Not sure how a UV light would do that(?)

It ended up being more of a tanning bulb to her. Her humid hide has a Hole on the top and since thats where she spends her time she was still getting direct light. I took away the light and she started healing... soooo othat pretty much pinpoints it to be the light that was the cause.

Great job with her recovery.

Thats weird about that light because I use it with good results. But I have it on the cool side and the hides don't have openings on top. If you take the cover off the UV's will come out, if you leave the cover on it, the cover blocks the UV rays. I just keep the cover on and use it during the day and it gets turned off about 6pm every day.

Here are Updated pictures of Marcella 4 days after the last pictures were taken. Her orange is starting to show back up and it looks as though she will be shedding again soon.

Why may I ask are you using a UV bulb still with a leopard gecko? They are nocturnal and need ZERO UV lighting ;)

I am in no way stating you are doing anything wrong, just wondering why that light.

I Only use it on Dark days where theres almost no light coming in.. just to give her a sense on day/night... like today and the past 4 days shes using no light because theres enough natural light in the house. oh and the light I'm using is an extra light I had from my other leo.

She looks so much better! Paul is correct.. leopard geckos are nocturnal, so their eyes and skin are not adapted for UV rays of any kind. You can get the same results by simply turning the light on in the room she's in if you want to simulate a photo cycle. I would discontinue using the overhead light completely.
