Oh....what an exciting trip! I'm pretty sure Amsterdam was twice as expensive as it was 3 years ago (before factoring the exchange rate). All of Europe had an unexpected cold front move in which took the city from the delightfully sunny 70's to rainy 50's.
We got to stay in the room we stayed in 3 years ago for the first 2 nights which was nice. We did notice that they hadn't done any maintenance. Those were the photos that I posted previously. When our German friends met us on the 3rd day we moved in to a 2 bedroom apartment. We flipped a coin for beds. We took the 2 twins and pushed them together. One was a little short and felt like it was made from soda cans filled with rocks. You can see how our 5'8" friend's legs hang off. lol
So after not sleeping for 2 nights we decided to sleep on the couch for the last nights. Plus, they were replacing windows on the levels below our bedroom so construction began at 6:30am and finished a 3pm.
We had a fantastic view from the living room across the Amstel.
The Dutch football team won 2 games while we were there and the streets were crazy! A group of girls across the canal were having a viewing party and groups of fans would come by singing cheers and get them to open the windows and sing with them. It was pretty amazing getting to experience that.
We had an extra occupant in our second room. A bold little mouse with a tiny stump of a tail. We had finished eating some beautiful Gouda and he came from under the couch looking for crumbs at our feet. Our friends hunted him for 3 hours but I told them that they could try to catch him but not kill him. They came close but never did catch him. lol
Tobias finally stuffed paper everywhere to keep him from getting back under the counter...didn't work. :main_evilgrin:
I caught him with my camera though!
I'm pretty sure this is the smallest car ever and it's a 2 seater!
An Argentinian Grill with delicious steaks.
Not so delicious...barf.
But after this I think they would have eaten anything. lol
While we were walking through the shopping district...
Keith recognized Ric Ocasek of the Cars! (who was really nice)
Our last day. Can you tell we're exhausted?!
