We always knew deformity was a possibility, but now we have to face it. She was born this morning, and she is by far the prettiest little thing we've hatched. Unfortunately, her foot is deformed, and she looks shaped a little different overall. Luckily, she seems happy and healthy otherwise.

We are wondering what you guys think, if there is any possibility of her growing out of it, or if anything can be done. Could calcium help? The rest of her limbs don't look too bad, but could it be that her bones are just weak? Any input at all would be greatly appreciated.

I believe it could be from temps changing in the incubator. I had one of mine like that with his foot it was curled under like that. But he is fine and chases down his food just like all the others.

There really is no way to tell if this was from incubation or genetic deformation... It could also be a calcium related issue... Either way it will be a good pet as long as it quality of life stays intact... Good luck with that little one...

I had one hatch that I thought had foot problems. It was sort of walking on its wrists. But after a couple days, it was walking normal and looks perfectly fine. I'm not sure if yours will be the same, but I think mine was just weak from hatching or something. Good luck!

I had a few last year with foot deformities --always the front limb(s) and not from the same pairing, leading me to think it is related to development in the incubator. In the mildest cases, the limb was twisted or missing a few toes. In the most severe case, the front legs were nearly completely missing. They have all done well and thrived, though I wouldn't breed them just in case.

It's good to hear that they are all thriving :) That is very reassuring! I hope that the little guy is able to grow out of it in the next few days, but if not we will just adopt him out to a very loving home.

Thank you for all the replies, we really appreciate it!
