This is by far one of the worst case of severe neglect on an animal i've seen. Fortunately this gecko has been taken in by someone who is desperately trying to save him.

This really made me upset.....

LINK

The link takes you to a bearded dragon forum and this is a WARNING, the pics posted of the condition the gecko the rescuers received him in is very heart breaking and disturbing.

It really turns my stomach to think there are people out there that would do things like this to an animal.

Poor guy! At least his is in the hands of caring and capable people now. I hope he pulls through. He deserves a life of being spoiled now, that's for sure!!

That animals suffers from multiple deficiencies (among others vit. D3 / calcium, vit. A). This animal shouldn't be kept alive any longer because the paws and the jaw won't get any better I think, but everyone is free to try and save it I think...

I was going to post something similar - I have to agree with you. I think its great that they are trying to save him but I think the kinder thing would be to put him down.
But best of luck to them, I hope he leads a happy life.

I'm in the library in my school right now. When I brought up the picture nearly everyone turned around and saw it. Everyone here is disgusted at this now. Our librarian said it was pathetic that people let this happen because people would never treat another person this way. I agree. All I could say when i brought up the picture was "poor baby..."

animal cruelty? nope cuz its not a fluffy dog or cat....dont get how its any different b/c if a dog or cat was in a similar condition the owner would definitely be in some sort of trouble.

its definitely animal cruelty, the law enforcers just dont recognize it as so, which is a shame.
I agree with Eriathiel and Stevie, I think the best and most humane thing to do at this time is to put him out of his misery. Some times help comes too late.

That's one of the worst cases of metabolic bone disease I've ever seen. Poor thing, it probably needs to be humanely euthanised.

Well I wouldn't go as far as to say that the best thing you can do is to put him down... as long as he doesn't lose his will to live. There are animals that no matter how sick they are, they always have the strenght to grumble and bite, haha.

Poor thing. But well, I'm glad to know that in the USA law enforcers would pay attention to dogs and cats at least, because here... bah.

not to be insensitive or something, but it's kind of funny his name is "Gimpo". i don't know about putting him down... maybe if he seems like he's in pain or, as a previous poster said, has lost the will to live.:(
