i have gertrude (yeah that is what russ named her lol) in a 20 tall (for now) it it slightly longer and wider than a 10 gallon. she is out ALL day, not just cruising for food, just out and about. now i know the diurnal but boy this is awesome. i love watching her! any of you experience this?

It seems like some are out all the time and some are not.
It's actually kinda funny, my really nice looking hogs are always out and my normals seem to hide a lot.
Maybe the prettier hogs are vain.lol
My little tri-color is supposed to be nocturnal, but she is always out and about. Day and night.

Robin, her being out and about is a good sign you are doing things properly with her... Sounds like a healthy hog to me...

What are her temps and how often are you feeding her???

Age and weight???

I ask because the hotter you keep them, the more active they are and the more frequently thay can feed without getting fat on ya...

gregg i keep her hot spot between 88-90. the ambient temp is about 70-75 depending on if the AC or heat is on. she eats, about four to five days later she poos. we wait a couple days and feed her again on day 7. we feed her two small adult mice every 7 days.

she is a 5 year old adult female and weights 199 grams and she is roughly 2 feet. she is not skinny nor over weight :)
