This is what a 97 degree hot spot does....

I'm only thinking of changing since my gravid girl has gone off food for a full week before each clutch. I'm hoping with a higher temp I can coax her to eat a little more.

She looks fantastic! I personally have mine set to 96, and all appetites are GREAT. In fact, I should have taken a video the other day - my first female laid her eggs, I threw a few roaches in the tub and they were gone within 10 minutes of her laying :)

Very interesting! I keep mine at about 95 so I'm going to up it a shade. What would you consider too hot though? I'm always worried about my temps getting too high and burning them. I tend to be paranoid though.
Anything over a hundred would be too much in my opinion for sure... Although even at 100 burning is not really a worry... I do not think there is a substance on earth that can burn at only 100 degrees...
I think that the 95 degree spot you keep is perfect... The extra 2 degrees may or may not make a difference... All I can say is try it out for a few days and see how it works...

wondering if set-up types and/or geographical location can play a part?
Reason I ask is that I'm in the UK, all my leo's are in wooden viv's, temps on the 'hot side' are set at 90*F max and yet my females remain in good condition too ie: minimal weight loss and good appetites (eating til a day or so before laying and then going right for the food as soon as finished laying)

Thanks a lot for sharing ! The hot spot in my leos' terrarium is around 100F now that the weather is getting hotter... (it used to be 95-97F), I need to get that thermostat fast !

You can put more layers of paper towel in there meanwhile, that should lower the ground temp by a few degrees.

Yeah that's exactly what I did, otherwise the belly temp would be around 107F ! @_@

Thanks ! :):)
