Hey I'm thinking about buying the PRO MR-148 incubator, I found one for a decent price, and I cant find many reviews on the incubator. I was wondering if this incubator is worth buying. I'm a beginner and wanted too get other peoples opinion on this product.

If you do a search for mr148 you will find lots of threads which they are talked about by multiple breeders.

I have one and really like it. I use it for my males only and it will hold a decent amount of eggs. You will just have to calibrate it for your temps. The digital readout is off by about 5 deg or so. Other than that I have had no issues with it and have been very successful with it. I don't know the difference between mine and the PRO version.

The MR-148 "Incubator" isn't just a incubator... its actually a mini-fridge/warmer. Multiple companies have been selling it as a incubator since its insulated and can warm. I've heard good things about it, the temps can be off a bit just like Travis said so would suggest a couple thermometers to watch those temps. But if you are only doing small breeding it works fairly well. Theres a ton of sites that sell it and I've seen the price range a lot. Exo-terra just came out with there MR-148 which is in black. If you go to www.thinkgeek.com ...Home & Office ... Essential Gear you will see the same item.

Also if you are into sims they fit 2 easily in there (which is at least 70 eggs). I love my Nature Spirits, so if your looking for something bigger i would go that route.

I just Picked up one of these from the think geek site.
Seems like it lets the temperature drop a full degree before it turns back on and warms it to the original desired temp.
Will this kind of air temperature change/fluctuation cause deformities?
I would Imagine it is the same answer as with opening the container for air flow but just wanted to make sure.

I have two of these type of incubators from different companies. As mentioned the digital readout is off by a few degrees, but once you figure how much they work very well. I would say they are worth the money. Last time I checked thinkgeek had the best price, but it's been a while.

I just got one of these for Christmas and set it up with a dual probe thermometer inside. one on the middle rack and one on the bottom. There is a 4 degree difference in temperature in that 4 inch span. I don't think it will matter since I won't have enough eggs to have to use the top and the bottom but I'm thinking about putting a fan at the top front and bottom back to cycle the air and make it more uniform so that I can if I want to.

On the positive side I will say that the unit is holding temp for me very well. The door is nicely insulated and once you have the unit up for a couple of hours it only really turns on once every 10 minutes or so for about 30 seconds to get the temp up. In the summer months this will obviously be less.

Well if you think about that bit of difference from top to bottom(ive notice it to be a bit up there(top was 88 middle was 83 and bottom was 79)) but if you utlilze that to your advantage like i am it works well for incuabating males, females, and crested gecko eggs(and hopefuly one day corn snake eggs) just another thought on it lol

please note that the temps stated were on the inside of the conatiners

I had thought about that but would just feel better if there wasn't a gradient. At some point I plan on building a DIY incubator but have a couple of other projects first. I'll let you know how the fans I make work out and how well they fix the problem.
