My sister originally bought these two girls at a reptile expo last year. I remember having trouble figuring out what exactly a 'ghost' is when I first started to research leo morphs...I'm guessing the one on the left is probably a hypo mack snow? She has a very greenish hue and just a few light spots down her spine (plus that big 'ole freckle :p).

The girl on the right I don't think really qualifies as 'hypo' from what I've been reading. She definitely has more than 10 spots on her, but not as spotty as a normal. She has just a little bit of carrot in her tail. I'm not sure whether to consider her just a high-yellow normal or tangerine.

Both of these girls have produced eggs this season from this male that I've posted about previously -

He was sold as a tremper sunglow but I guess technically he's not 'super-hypo' since he has those two small spots. Also possible het RAPTOR (we'll see...)

I can get other pics since these guys are all in my care for the moment but the females are in shed right now.

The one on the right is a Tangerine, she looks very similar to my Tangerine female who has a few more spots. I can't say much about a Ghost..

In fact Wiki Leo Morphs is the only place I've ever really seen the term.
Ghost - Leopard Gecko Wiki

But it does seem like it can be separate of the Mack Snow gene and look like that so I dunno. If you get a Mack Snow baby then you'll know! Course that could take a couple breedings. Best of luck with the babies.

You have some very pretty Leos!

Thanks :) From the research I've done on it, I think there's a 'True Ghost' line (or maybe a few lines?) that's not all that common, and then people calling hypo mack snows 'ghosts'. I'm mostly convinced that she's the latter. She's got 4 fertile eggs in the incubator so far so we'll see if any of them are mack snows

Some folks see morphs and think that if their gecko looks like the pictures or individuals they've seen they can call it that regardless of genetics. While that's true with some species of animals its not necessarily true with leopard geckos. A lot of leo morphs are based on both genetics and looks.

The first one is a Mack Snow Hypo "Ghost" and the second is a Hypo (reduced spotting) tangerine. Good luck with your breeding and babies.

Thanks! And on a slightly off topic note, hope to see you guys at White Plains next month. You have some really great geckos.

Unless it is from a "true" Ghost line, it can be called a true ghost when it genetically prooves out in the offspring ;-)..
