My bf and I have an adult male beardie, he is in a 55 gal breeder with the proper heat lamps/etc. and sand as his substrate. I recently tiled my leo tanks and was thinking of doing the same for goliath, (for obvious reasons).
He has a pretty steady photoperiod of about 12 on/ 12 off unless he gets tired and goes to sleep early- then we shut it off. anyway...my bf is concerned that if we were to tile his tank, the light would make his basking spot too hot and burn his belly....is this true? any tips much appreciated

No I don't think it will get to hot.

They bask on rocks and such in Australia and that can be over 100 degrees.

When I had my beardie we put a rock where his basking spot was so he could get more belly heat.

My beardie has tile flooring and spends most of her time in her hammock. The heat doesn't even particularly reach the tile floor.
