Has anyone had any problems with using tiles and an uth? The package from the uth says to use feet on the tank to prevent heat build up and cracking. Has anyone had the heat build up under the ceramic tiles and cause cracking that way? My tiles aren't glued down, just set in the tabk on top od some paper towels ( for spills and such).

If your tiles are cracking at a surface temperature of around 90 degrees, then either your tiles or your temperature probe is defective.

LOL! I agree :main_laugh:
90F is not very hot ;)

I'm not quite sure I understand what is being asked. The feet should always be on the bottom of the tank, so the glass does not crack, nevermind the tile. Also, make sure to put the UTH under the tank, and not under the tiles IN the tank. If I'm reading correctly, you didn't state that your ceramic tiles cracked, just that you were reading the warning label on your UTH. Am I missing anything?

I haven't had the tiles crack. I was just wondering if heat getting trapped under the tiles from the uth placed under the tank would cause the tiles to crack similar to the tank glass cracking, if the tank wasn't set on the feet.

I doubt the tiles would crack, but the glass very well may crack without the feet, so tiles aside it is still an avoidable risk. If you don't have feet, you can maybe slide the side of the tank with the UTH a bit off of whatever surface it's on so air can get underneath the tank.

no problems for me and it sits at 89 degrees all the time, and my tiles are just sitting on the bottom.

We have tiles in all of our tanks and no problems. We have some tanks that we lost the little feet off of and we went and got those furniture rounds( foam for bottoms of chairs) and doubled those up and they work fine.
