I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

They are all about Tokay Geckos.

1. Are all Tokays mean and try to bite every time you holf e'm?
2. Are they hard to take care of?
3. What is their basic care. If someone could link me to a good care sheet on them that'd be awsome.
4. How much are tokays? I think at petco they are $15.99 or $25.00. Can't remember...

Thanks everyone!

I am looking into getting one.

Sorry, I forgot to add these Qs too...

5. Can they be housed togther, like two females?
6. - NOT A Q - Could you post a pic of your Tokay's cage setup?
7. Do they have toe pads like tree frogs? Or just claws?

Don't worry I am going to research before I purchase one. I don't know if I am even going to get one...

You can find Tokoys at alot of differant Pet shops. They are more of a display reptile. They climb the sides of their encloser. I don't know of any specific sites with info you are looking for so hopefully someone here with a Tokoy can help answer your questions. Did you try doing a google search?

Firstly, in my opinion etco should be a last resort for getting a reptile.

Yes, most tokays bite and have a wild demeanor, lol. Tame ones can be found but mostly they are one of those display-only or handle on a need-be basis animal.

Yes, rather easy to take care of, but with any pet, know before you buy.

Tokay care, one of many care sheets. http://www.anapsid.org/tokays.html

I've seen tokays sold for 4.99 and up depending on morph and store.

I personally have had 1.2.1 and I did experience bullying between females, some people just like to keep their geckos housed individually, that would be my suggestion in this case.

Most of my pics are on an old computer, I don't think I have any saved. For the youngin' I used a 10 gallon with screen top, for the adult trio I used a 30 gallon tall tank with a screen top.

Gekko gecko is equipped with a type of lamellae that allows to adhere to surfaces like glass.

Then again, I have never had a display animal before. They may eb fun to just kick back and watch.

Are they active little fellas?

If you want a nice tokay, your best bet is a CB one. They are your best bet for tokays peroid because they dont have the parasites etc.. Tokays are pretty simple to care for,not any harder then a leo. The price depends on where you get it and if its CB or WC. WC ones are the cheapest of course. CB ones generally go for like $50-$60 from what I have seen, well worth it. As for housing them together, I have successfully done it in the past without probs. I reccomend if you get 1 and decide to get another later on and want to try to house it with the one you already have, to clean the cage out good and set it up different then before and put the geckos in at the same time. This way there should no probs aslong as there is enough room, hides, and make sure they are about the same size. This has worked for me in the past but of course you would want to keep a close eye on them and be prepared to seperate them if needed.. And yes the have toe pads and can stick to the glass. Hope that helps :)

Thanks reptile man!

What do they need for lighting/warmth? Just a UTH or a light.

The ones at petco muct have been WC, because they are like $24.99. (I think)

yea petco only sells WC ones. As for heating, a nocturnal bulb or regular house hold bulb will work. They shouldnt spend much time on the ground so a UTH wont do much for them..

Thanks for answering back so fast. :D

So will it be okay if I get a tokay from petco, just making sure I cheak his body and stuff?

I am not sure if I am getting yet? I hope so. I don't really have the room, but my room is a total mess, I don't need that extra dresser in the way, a perfect space for another tank. ;)

Thanks again!!

I would really try to get a captive born one. I can't remember how much we paid for ours, but she was $40-$60. She's been healthy & has grown a ton. Her colors are nice, too.

They are now my favorite geckos I have had them for about 2 months now these little guys are almost the size of my leos and only 3-4 months old
I am yet to handle them (I try) but for real get your self some feeding them is amazing to watch you will not be disappointed!:main_thumbsup:
Edit: I think now that I have 2.1 and if that is the case I can ship it to you but honestly would not be worth the price.
