Triple Het?

I have heard of a "double het" in snakes, but how is a "Triple Het" achieved in Leopard Gekos? In other words, how can there be a triple het, how does a Leo become a triple het?

Any recessive trait that appears in just one parent will be genetically present in the offspring as a "het" characteristic. If the two parents between manifest 3 different recessive traits, then the babies will be triple het. For example, if you have an albino blizzard paired with a patternless (I don't know why anyone would want to do this) then the resulting babies will be het for albino, patternless and blizzard --triple het.

Lets say you have a blizzard, eclipse, Tremper albino and you breed it to a normal. You would get Normals het. blizzard het. eclipse het. Tremper or, a Triple het. =)

I know you can have 3 hets in an animal.

What i mean is that there is a pair of geckos for sale here that say they are "triple het for DB".....?

Does that mean that they have "three times the better chances of gettin a DB", or some other rediculous description like that? lmao

That is usually what people mean when they say triple het. for DB or, when they say het. DB.

A het. DB or, triple het. DB would be a Normal, het. Tremper, het. eclipse, het. blizzard.

Thats why i asked, cuz i thought this was something that maybe i was unaware of.

...But even then, if whats meant is the components for a DB, then that wouldn't make sense either, cuz then by that meaning, it should be double het for DB, and not triple, since DB is Raptor + Blazing Blizzard, and does not have a 3rd gene to create it.

I Have 2 het DB geckos. And thats what i call them. I wouldn't call it my Giant Tremper Enigma, triple het for DB, and my Giant Tremper Albino, triple het for DB... lol... To me, that just makes it try and sound like it is so much more than what it really is. Nice play on words if you ask me, lol

I think you are not completely understanding what makes a Raptor. A Raptor isnt Just one gene. It is a Tremper Albino Eclipse (2 genes). and a Blazing Blizzard Is either of the 3 Albino Strains in this case A Tremper Albino and Blizzard (2 Genes). So A normal het Diablo Blanco is Het Eclipse, Tremper Albino and Blizzard.

I think you are not completely understanding what makes a Raptor. A Raptor isnt Just one gene. It is a Tremper Albino Eclipse (2 genes). and a Blazing Blizzard Is either of the 3 Albino Strains in this case A Tremper Albino and Blizzard (2 Genes). So A normal het Diablo Blanco is Het Eclipse, Tremper Albino and Blizzard.
