Triplex Finally done

well, I've had this idea for quite some time now, and I've finally gotten it done. I took my 55 gallon, 48" long tank and made it a split level, then I made the bottom level into 2 areas, with the UTH in the middle. I mostly did this so that I could keep a constant eye on my breeding groups, including my new snow het bell pair, who will be introduced in about 2 more months, the female who is in her new home is still only 48 grams. Much to small for breeding, so she gets to enjoy the solitary area till it's her turn to be paired. this is only the preliminary stage, I'm gonna make a more sturdy frame that's a bit higher for the second level. Right now I just wanna see how it works out.

Let me know what you all think!

well, some how, my LVPA female was able to find a way from the top to one of the bottom areas. LOL, I have no clue how she did it, it's a tight fit all the way around!

Looks like a good plan is in motion. I have an exoterra terrarium for my leo & he's able to squeeze beneath the foam back wall. I've stuffed the area with moss.

no everythign is completely seperated, there's a male in the top and a male in the bottom under the light, so I have my 2 main breeding groups in this setup, there's no way I want anyone able to squeeze through...luckily the area that the LVPA girl snuck to was the side where my snow het bell female is at......so that can't hurt much, they were housed together in the first place so they get along...but the last thing I need is for my LVPA male in the top, destroying my snow bell project for this year...once I find the spot she's sneaking through, it's gonna get hidden by something...don't know what yet, but I'll figure it out

just curious, do you have any belly heat on that top layer?

Not yet, I just went and picked it up :D

Now I just have to figure out how to mount it underneath and keep it from falling...and I need to figure a way to put the cord through.

48 grams much to small for breeding? Ive always heard people say 50 grams is breeding size, and some say they breed at 45. 48 seems pretty much ballpark size to me

I can't tell what you're using for the top layer. Whatever it is, if you put another layer on top of that you can sandwich the UTH between them. To allow air space, put a small tile at each corner in between the layers. The UTH cord will have to go up through the top of the cage where the cover is. One of these days I'll get the picture of my 1/2 split level posted so you can see what I mean.

I would LOVE to see it too because I am going to have a 55 gallon soon and I am looking for ideas of how to set it up...

Thanks!

As soon as the financial aid forms get done (this coming week) we'll have time to put the picture on the computer and then post.

I don't breed until they're at least 55 grams, I feel that they're less at risk that way

thanks on that, but the only problem is that the top is non removable, so I'd have to cut a hole in it, and I'm not to thrilled about that idea
