Just wanted to get a poll going to see the size break down for breeding and tubs. What size Tub do you folks use for your Adult Breeder Geckos. (Single adult tub)

I voted 28 qt. since it is the closest to what I use for the majority of my adults.

I keep my adult females and large/Giant males in 27 qt. Sterilite tubs
I keep my smaller males and sub-adults in Sterilite 16 qt. tubs

I chose the 31+ because they are in custom containers I built out of acrylic. Some are larger than others but an avg one measures 18x12x6. I pretty much used what was available to me.

So you keep only one adult per 31+ container?

41qt sterilite under bed sweater storage box's

I have about 18 of these, I have a few with solitary males and a few with single quarantine geckos (new ones) most have a few geckos in them, grouped by sex and morph, or project....OH, and about 5 of those have my hold back babies from this yr.. 3-4 per tub, with lots of hides..... HOLY MOLY.... that means I have about 20 holdbacks this yr!!!

Ah well, more fun for next yr!

My geckos have a lot of room, but I like them to move around. I think I am going to split some of the larger boxes for the "lazy" girls that don't move around much. Still figuring that out. The constructions easy, its the space part that's tough. Love my table saw.

I keep all my geckos in 15 qt tubs and when I'm ready to breed I move approximately 3 females to a 32 quart tub and then add a male a few days later after they are all settled down.

What sized tubs are the equivalent to 10gal tanks in terms of floorspace? Because I have a 34 qt tub and it seems barely as large as a 10gal, which is the smallest space an adult should be given...

I do feel that 15 quarts is small for a adult leo too. It doesn't measure up to the measurement of a 10 gallon that is the standard minimum requirement, which is typically 20 x 10 x 12 ! Most 15 quart tubs are 14-3/4" x 10-1/8" x 5-5/8" h and only measure to 3.6 gallons. I know when I place a adult in a 15 quart when I am cleaning they look cramped to me. I personally think that a 28 or close is better for 1 or 2 leos kept together full time. I only keep hatchlings and juveniles in my 15 quart tubs.

At home I keep all my adults in 15qt rubbermaid tubs and hatchlings in 6qt container store tubs. I'm about to build a new rack at the house for my larger adults and will use the 28qt rubbermaid tubs for them to give them some more room.
The "Snake Room" has been down sized and we're in the process of switching more racks over to the gecko's. There we've got two rooms of racks capable of holding more than we'll need for years to come. 6qt, 15qt, & 27 qt sterilite tubs in all of those. 2010 here we go !!

I have kept all my adults in 15q tubs for about a year now. They seem to be doing great. I don't think that a 10 gallon is a standard minimum requirement. I think its just a suggestion for newbies that have no clue what they are doing. Like I said mine seem to be doing great and as there is not a lot of room in a 15q tub my leos seem to either be in the hide a lot or they are just sitting in an open spot. They have bred just fine in the 15q tub as well. I take every thing out of the tub and put the male in the females cage and he does his business. This is just what I do and what works for me.
